Brace yourselves, winter warriors! Today marked the arrival of our first significant snowfall of the season, with meteorologists predicting a delightful blanket of 4 to 6 inches to transform our world into a winter wonderland. Just when you thought you'd seen the last of the snow shovels, another storm is already on the horizon, set to swoop in Friday night and continue its frosty dance into Saturday. So grab your hot cocoa, dust off those snow boots, and get ready for some snowy adventures ahead. Whether you're building a snowman or just enjoying the picturesque views, let’s embrace the magic of winter!

Exciting news for winter enthusiasts! Assuming the predicted snowfall graces us with its presence, we are all set to open the Lake Villa Township Sled Hill, a winter wonderland just waiting for your sledding adventures. Nestled in the picturesque Caboose Park at 37908 N Fairfield Road, IL 60046, this delightful hill promises endless fun and laughter for all ages. Whether you're a seasoned sledder or a first-timer, come on down and enjoy the thrill of gliding down the hill, as we’ll be open daily until 10 PM. So grab your sled, bundle up, and let the snowy escapades begin!

Happy 65th Birthday!!

The Assessor’s Office would like to give you a gift.

If you or your spouse turns 65 anytime in 2025, you are eligible for the Senior Homestead Exemption. The exemption decreases the taxable value by -8,000. My “gift” to each senior is a reduction in taxes that can range from -$700 to -$1,000.

Like all exemptions, the property must be your primary residence; there is no income requirement; and there is no annual renewal.

After qualifying for the Senior Homestead Exemption, you can apply for the Senior Assessment Freeze Exemption the following year. This exemption freezes your property’s taxable assessed value. To qualify for this income-based exemption, your household income must be less than $65,000 per year. This exemption must be renewed annually, starting in March.

ANNUAL EXEMPTION RENEWAL REQUIRED

Ø Low-Income Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze

Ø Disabled Veterans Exemption

Ø Homestead Exemption for Persons with Disabilities

APPLICATION / RENEWAL PROCESS

Ø Visit the Lake Villa Township Assessor's Office for assistance. This is the easiest method for most.

Ø Apply online using the Lake County Smartfile program.

Please feel free to contact my office with any questions.
