Dear students,
It is always exciting to have a new member of our MCOM family. We welcome Dr. Jackson as the new Associate Dean for Student Affiars. We are very excited to work together in order to bring you the best curricular affairs and student affairs possible.
The first few rounds of tests are done. Don’t forget to reach out if you are struggling and need support. It sometimes is hard to get in the swing of things. There also can be new challenges as you change years and are having to deal with new material.
Respectfully,
Dr. D and Dr. J

Welcome Dr. Jackson, the new Associate Dean of Student Affairs! | |
|
Dear Students,
It's an honor to join as your Associate Dean of Student Affairs. I'm a Georgia native, completing my medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. I did internal medicine and a chief residency year at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. My passions are mentorship, EBM-based research, and professional development for medical trainees. Outside of my clinical work, I am an avid musician (play piano), crime show enthusiast, and spouse to the most wonderful person in the world, Alexa. Our doors in the Office of Student Affairs are open to help you navigate the journey to becoming the best physician you can be.
Respectfully,
Dr. J

LVHN's New Dress Code Policy Begins Sept 16th
LVHN reviewed its prior dress code policy in response to concerns that the dress code was outdated and there was a lack of uniformity in application. A comprehensive review was conducted to ensure the policy was in line with other health-care entities and industry standards, provided accurate and clear information, and met any legal requirements. After a thorough assessment, which included review from leaders, legal counsel and feedback from colleagues, LVHN has finalized a new policy for colleagues that will now be referred to as the Personal Appearance Policy. The Personal Appearance Policy will help to ensure colleagues maintain a professional appearance, which is an important ingredient in providing the best possible experience for our patients and colleagues and will help us focus on our mission. The new policy will go into effect Sept. 16, 2024.

Clinical Site Reminder
It is expected that you follow the same protocols that residents and faculty follow at any clinical site that you are rotating at. We are always here to support you if you are in a situation and need advice or for us to intervene. In addition, if you are asked to break a protocol, you should feel comfortable saying something like:
"Dr. [Attending Physician's Name], I understand the need to be flexible in clinical situations, but I have to follow the protocols set for this clinical setting. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to go against them. I can get in trouble with my program if I do. I hope you understand."
