Commissioner Todd Sansbury

If you've ever been to Jetton Park, chances are you've seen or met Todd while he's out on his daily run. He's one of five Cornelius Commissioners who serve our Town dutifully, and he's also been involved in some pretty exciting stuff the past year.

One big initiative that he's taken on with fellow Commissioner, Colin Furcht, is the advent of the Neighborhood Advisory Committee (or NAC, as they affectionately refer to it).

The NAC is a group that's open to all Cornelians. It's an opportunity for local neighborhood leaders and other interested parties to meet and exchange their ideas and concerns, and all of their discussions help to better inform our Board on what our public really cares about.

Todd has been a part of local and civic organizations for the entire 20 years that he's lived in the region. Since being elected Commissioner in 2021, Todd has joined the Parks and Recreation, Mayor's Affordable Housing, and Cornelius History Museum Committees.

He loves working with these groups because, as he puts it, "small towns thrive and prosper on citizen engagement" - and we couldn't agree more.

Todd is originally from a small, South Carolina town called Hartsville. He attended Wake Forest University where he and his wife, Heather, began their love story. The Sansburys have been in the region since 2002 and in Cornelius since 2007. They share two outstanding children, Griffin and Emily, and one handsome hound, Blue.

Todd and Heather are incredibly proud of their kids. Griffin graduated from Chapel Hill this past spring and is currently on a year-long research project in Africa while he applies to medical schools. Emily is a Sophomore at Washington and Lee and is a star athlete in soccer and track.

In his free time, Todd likes to spend time running and exercising with Heather, attending Emily's soccer games and track meets, and hanging out with his buddies from F3 Lake Norman.

Todd says that he loves Cornelius for so many reasons, with the main reason being that our schools, amenities, culture, and people are outstanding. He loves hearing from people who just moved to Town about how much better things are here, and from the people who have lived here for ages and have had the opportunity to watch the Town evolve. His absolute favorite part of living here is that no matter where you go, you're sure to see a friendly face.

DON'T WASTE YOUR DAYLIGHT

Especially if it's on bagging leaves.

Our leaf vacuuming trucks are back in action this fall and winter, and all you have to do is pile your leaves at the curb.

Trucks will be making at least one round through Town each month till the end of January, and likely more if weather permits.

Click here to see the live location of the trucks.

'TIS THE SEASON

Help spread a little cheer this holiday season by donating a gift card to a family in need.

CPD's Adopt-a-Family program is accepting gift cards to grocery stores, restaurants, and local retailers. You can drop cards off at the Police Department Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Is your family interested in being sponsored? Click here to complete the Information Form and submit no later than Monday, November 29.
