Hershey Supports

United Way Dual Credit Program

The Hershey Company recently announced a grant of $10,000 to support United Way of Crawford County’s program supporting local high school students at all four Crawford County high schools by paying the fees associated with the Dual Credit classes at Lincoln Trail College.  These classes taken while still in high school expose students to the college experience and enable them to obtain college credit with no expense.  Hershey and United Way are committed to helping make educational opportunities available and enhancing the resulting financial stability a higher education level provides.

Mary Michael

Board Member

Community service is a major aspect of who I am.  I share similar values with the United Way, and I feel I can make a difference being a part of this organization.  There is a quote that says, ‘what we aren’t changing, we are choosing.’  Being a part of the United Way, gives me a feeling of impacting change.  I’ve lived in Crawford County my entire life.  I’ve worked more than half of my life at Hershey, having been with the company in various roles for almost 30 years.  I have raised my family here.  I’m committed to making Crawford County a great place to live and work.

Being a United Way Board member and volunteer, I’ve learned so much about local non-profit agencies and have gained a lot of knowledge about the local resources that are available to help with community needs.  I believe the role of the UW Board is to match those resources with the needs.

I read somewhere that Compassion is what compels us to ‘do something about it.’  United Way provides an avenue for me to help do exactly that.  Don’t ever underestimate the difference you can make by volunteering.
