We give great thanks! Sunday we mark a milestone in our parish development progress. We’ll have the opportunity to sign the slab or leave a prayer or note for the Time Capsule. We hope you’ll plan to be a part of that joy – we’ve got markers aplenty. There will be treats after all the Masses including our KCs’ World Famous… Sausage Wraps after the 8:45 and 11:30. Don’t worry 5:30 folks, our simple Sunday supper will be served! Fr. Chuck’s excited to make this a moment our community will cherish in memory as we build to serve as a Beacon of Hope.

Important safety reminder IF you want to sign the slab you must wear closed toed shoes and NO high heels. Please follow the signs from Mass, pause to sign the waiver and pick up your marker, then enter the construction site.

Our pastor also shares his thanks for the service of all who defended and protected our country and its liberties. Happy Veterans Day! He tells us of two saints to inspire and lead us today, tho’ they lived long before us. Read From Fr. Chuck.

Last week we noted this fact, “Giving is one of the things our community does best.”  This week, we provide the numbers behind that statement for, with your generosity, we provided help and hope to families in need of rent and utility support. Please review last quarter’s Outreach Report.

More opportunities to experience the joy of giving are on the way with one of the highlights of the year for our community. Get involved by sponsoring a family, purchasing gift cards, or contributing – find more at Christmas Baskets!

There’s more! We’re having a food drive to resupply the

Micah 6 Food Pantry. The needs are specific – the list is at JUSTNews.

Show your support for increased vocations with prayer and a gift of loving service by penning a letter of thanksgiving, support, and encouragement to Deacon Eric and Chris Lawton. Please drop your letters at the parish office soon to be delivered in a care package from St. A. Our support makes a difference as you’ll see in a thank you from Fr. Kevin at Holy Orders.

The wheel of the liturgical calendar is whirling as Advent nears. Here’s an invitation to prepare for Jesus' birth as we listen and reflect on hymns and song from Scripture. This group will meet by Zoom from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Mondays from November 28 to December 19. Register here.

The second in our series on Paulists in formation features Chris Lawton and there’s more in Faith Formation Weekly News.

This week we journey back to 2000 when Fr. PJ visited Old St. Mary’s in San Francisco. Coincidentally, Fr. Chuck was pastor there at the time. Fr. PJ was inspired to reflect on our Catholic-culture. It remains a relevant reason for us to give thanks 22 years later. Revisit that message at Adventures in the Archives.

The Speakeasy Soirée was a glittering evening with sequined flappers, fringe, feathers, fedoras, pinstripes, and more. It did a world of good for our parish school. Thanks to all who contributed - in Paddles Up alone, over $70,000 was raised to outfit our new gym. Save the date, Saturday, January 14, 2023, to toast Catholic education and honor parishioners Larry and Martha Schroeder at the Saints & Scholars event. A link is at SACS.

Have a question or suggestion about our parish? Our Parish Pastoral Council serves our pastor and community. Their job is to hear and be available to you. A list of the current PPC and how to reach them is at Parish Councils.

Especially for YOU, we have the latest drone footage and this week’s Construction Updates.

Your generosity allows us to shine brightly as a beacon from our spot on Guadalupe! Thank you for giving!

Amazing Spirit of God,

Awaken us again to your enlivening presence,

in parish and school – in classroom and pew.

You have guided and walked with us from our beginning,

with the founding generations to the present moment.

Upon your urging we now are raising up

a new home for the mission you entrust to us:

to be a beacon of hope in the life of our world,

and a touchstone of faith and mercy for generations to come.

Strengthen our commitment step by step.

Clarify our vision and its application so as not to falter.

Keep us grounded.

Keep us truthful.

Bless us with the lightness of your touch

in laughter and in stillness.

Remind us that we build in service

of your most amazing mission

to be expressions of God’s love in this place, for this time.

As we are taught, we dare to pray in Jesus’ name.

Amen.
