Impact of the 88th Legislative Session on Texas Nonprofits
There were some important wins and a lot of big disappointments during the 88th Texas Legislative Session that began in January. It started with a record budget surplus—$32.7 billion—and ended with an impeached attorney general. Throughout the session, the Texas Senate and House clashed and endured significant infighting. Because of the lack of movement on key priorities, we expect multiple special sessions, including one on education.
