January 5, 2023
Dear St. Louis Families,
Wishing you all a happy new year filled with hope and joy. Albeit a short week, we are happy to be with students again and look forward to an exciting 2023. It is providential that within this week we honored and celebrated St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, founder of the first Catholic schools and patron saint of Catholic Schools and St. John Neumann, who founded the first Catholic school system in the United States right in Philadelphia. We draw upon their inspiration and wisdom!
The winter window for mid-year assessments begins January 9th and lasts through the month. Teachers will be administering HMH Math and Reading to K-2 as well as PALs midyear for phonological screening. Students in grades 3-7 will take the adaptive online NWEA/MAP growth assessment in Reading, Math, and Language Arts. Test results will be shared with families after completion of the window in mid-February. Please know that we use the data from these tests to assist instructional planning as well as to develop school wide instructional initiatives.
Something new with 2023….join us for 8:45am Mass this Sunday. I encourage your family to join with staff and administration as we gather together to celebrate Mass on the 2nd Sunday of each month and afterwards, you can join together for some yummy pancakes sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Any student who comes to the 8:45am Mass will receive a ticket for breakfast---look for Mrs. Calogero or myself to get your ticket---we will be outside by the bell tower after Mass. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
Peace and Joy,
Anne M. Dyke
