Advancing CA Adult Education Model Program

In a complex consortium that includes two Community College Districts and five Adult Schools, many using different data systems, it is a challenge to arrive at consistent data entry and reporting practices across consortium members. Different interpretations of CAEP data elements lead to inconsistencies in tracking student enrollment, student outcomes and transitions.

Using consistent visualization of enrollment data, three-year trend analysis, and data-informed decision-making, consortium members reported a better understanding of CAEP data elements, as well as an increased understanding of student enrollment, transitions and outcomes data across the consortium.

CAEP Annual Plan Memo and Guidance

The California Adult Education Program (CAEP) annual planning process along with the member work plan and budget, in accordance with §84914(a)(2) and §84906(a)(1), is designed to provide consortia and members an opportunity to review the current Three-Year Plan, consider key accomplishments and challenges from the prior year, and outline goals and activities for the upcoming program year. The CAEP Annual Plan is a condition of receipt of an apportionment from CAEP and is a justification demonstrating how planned allocations are consistent with the adult education plan (as mandated in §84914(a)(2)).

We the People: Adult Learners' Critical Democratic Literacy

May 23, 2024 1:00 pm.

Critical Democratic Literacy (CDL) plays a pivotal role in empowering students to become engaged and informed citizens, enabling them to challenge influential institutions, question unfair policies, and critically evaluate outdated traditions. Individuals equipped with CDL understand political and civic systems, allowing them to navigate these systems effectively and contribute meaningfully to the improvement of their communities.

CALPRO has developed a new Community of Practice on developing adult learners' CDL, and it is designed to support educators in amplifying student voices and managing contemporary challenges. Join this webinar to find out more on the topic and hear from adult education practitioners who have implemented participatory approaches to democratic engagement in their classrooms and programs.

Presenters:

Mariann Fedele-McLeod (CALPRO/ American Institute for Research), Ilse Pollet (Allies4innovation), Cindi Grovhoug (Castro Valley Adult and Career Education), Gail Eisen (Santa Barbara City College), Marina Kravtsova (San Mateo Adult & Career Education), and Stacie Annear (Castro Valley Adult and Career Education)

Approaches to Three-Year Plan Preparation

May 23rd, 2024 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

Given the depth and breadth of the discussions anticipated, it was clear from the onset that a single session would not suffice to cover the wealth of knowledge and insights we aim to share. Therefore, we are pleased to announce an additional Peer Learning Circle (PLC) to continue this enriching conversation. This second webinar will allow us to further explore our planning processes, ensuring that every voice is heard and every strategy is shared. We encourage all Consortium leads, directors, and co-leads to mark their calendars and join us for this continued dialogue.
