Rediscover the Promise of Jesus

Imagine the scene as Jesus ascends into heaven. The Apostles were probably confused and saddened. “What comforts them, I believe,” says Sister M. Virginelle Makos, “is the promise of Jesus that He will be with them always. They knew that Jesus is faithful to His word.”

Sister welcomes all to gather for The Promise of Jesus, the final Simply Prayer program of the season, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at St. Francis Center at Monocacy Manor in Bethlehem, Pa. Online attendance also is available through Zoom.

The Apostles have heard Jesus say that we should remain in Him. He prays that we may be one as He and the Father are one. He begs us to remain in Him — as a branch — that we may bear good fruit. He asks us to abide in Him … make our home with Him. As we gather, together we will explore Jesus’ intimate and deep love for us.

Those attending in person are welcome for coffee at 9:30 a.m. Freewill offerings will be accepted. To register online now, click the blue button below. If you would prefer to register by phone, contact Lauren Martin at 610-867-8890.

Note: After the June 4 program, Simply Prayer will break for the summer, then resume in the fall.

A Simple Prayer for Memorial Day

God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride.

Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters.

Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace.

We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.

Spiritual Drumming Returns to the Farm

Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and the season of outdoor activities. Therefore, our Sisters invite you to discover your own rhythm as you connect to the rhythms of your neighbors when you join us at Monocacy Farms for our 2024 Community Drum Circles. Led by spiritual drummer Catherine Campanaro, we will gather outdoors in the farm field on the third Tuesday evening of each month, June through October.

This year’s sessions are set for:

7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18

7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16

7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20

7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17

7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15

Joyful and uplifting, drumming is an embodiment of prayer, inviting us to listen deeply to the heartbeat of the Spirit. We even incorporated spiritual drumming into our community gathering last summer. Come experience it for yourself. We might create some wonderful music together.

No RSVP or prior experience is necessary. Drums and percussion instruments are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please do bring your own lawn chair or mat. If you have questions, contact Maryann Kearns at mkearns@monocacyfarmproject.org or call 610-867-9753. Freewill donations benefit our ministry work at Monocacy Farm Project.

Monocacy Farms and Monocacy Manor are located at 395 Bridle Path Road in Bethlehem, Pa.
