In 2021, the Idaho Supreme Court ruled that restrictions placed on the initiative process by the legislature were unconstitutional. Now, lawmakers are considering asking the voters to amend the state constitution.
Tax penalty advances for local governments that refuse to enforce felonies, including abortion
The House Revenue & Taxation Committee advanced a bill Thursday that would withhold sales and use tax funds from local governments that refuse to enforce the state’s felony crimes. The legislation is meant to replace HB 2, which focuses specifically on the state's criminal abortion law.

Former gubernatorial candidate Ammon Bundy pleaded guilty to misdemeanor trespassing on Monday rather than proceed with a trial set for this week. The trespassing charge stems from a 2022 incident at St. Luke’s Hospital in Meridian.
