AVERY GAGLIANO REVIEW IN THE HYDE PARK HERALD

Dame Myra Hess Concert review - May 1, 2024

Avery Gagliano "approaches the piano with the casual air of someone getting into a car. But when she begins to play, there’s nothing casual, nothing unplanned, and nothing that interferes with a scorching fine performance."

ANNUAL MAKE MUSIC CHICAGO - JUNE 21

A FREE, CITYWIDE, DIY CELEBRATION OF THE MUSICIAN IN US ALL

Open to anyone who wants to take part! Now in its 13th season, every kind of musician—young and old, amateur and professional is invited to take to the streets, parks, plazas, and porches of Chicago to share music of all genres with friends, neighbors and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.

Based on the French Fête de la Musique, Make Music Chicago was first presented in 2011. Chicago joins 800 cities in 120 countries across the globe, making the Fête de la Musique the world’s largest single day music festival. Make Music Chicago is also a member of the Make Music Alliance, connecting Chicago with over 60 other U.S. cities in celebrating this day of music.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

" Having grown up watching the 'Great Pianists of the 20th Century' -- I used to see performances by Dame Myra Hess, one of my early inspirations alongside many others. I've known about this series for years, and I'm thrilled to make my official Chicago debut on the series!"
