PTSA News

Happy Last Week of School!


May the Summer bring much needed rest and recharging after a busy Spring. PTSA's last activity of the year is providing floral arrangements for the 8th grade promotion, plus grab & go treats for students to make for a sweet start to Summer.


PTSA Winter/Spring Recap


Here are the activities that PTSA completed since January:

  • Parent programs at Association meetings included presentations from: Recent Blair graduates, the teachers of Blair's International Academy, Local Summer program options for teens
  • Attended a service at community partner Lake Avenue Church to ask for support for our teacher grant program, resulting in $1,500 in donations for our teachers
  • Grade level parent meetings, with 60 participants
  • A Campus beautification day with general tidying up, hanging 25 new international flags
  • A week of breakfasts for teacher appreciation week
  • Four $500 scholarships for Seniors 
  • Sweet snacks for 8th graders on their special day

8th Grade Promotion Information


Promotion is today! Students should meet at the tunnel at 9:45 am where they will fill out a name card so their name can be announced during the ceremony. Parents should drop off their child and make their way to the gym to be seated in the bleachers.


Students will receive a faux promotion certificate on the stage. Official certificates must be picked up in the canteen (by the student store) after the event. Counselors will be at tables to hand out the certificates.

Important Senior Updates


Mandatory Senior Graduation Practice - TODAY Wednesday, May 31st from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium (300 East Green Street). Students need to arrive by 12:45 pm.


Graduation Ceremony Tickets: Graduating seniors received two tickets for submitting their senior check-out forms on Friday, May 26th and will receive four tickets for participating in the mandatory graduation practice on Wednesday, May 31st. Each graduating senior will receive up to six total tickets. Extra tickets for the graduation may be purchased after rehearsal. Extra tickets are $10 per ticket and will be available at the Student Store with Mrs. Josie at these times:

  • Wednesday, 5/31, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Thursday, 6/1, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Friday, 6/2 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am


Graduation Ceremony - Friday, June 2nd at 11:00 am at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium

Graduates need to be in the Gold Room (located upstairs) at the Civic Auditorium by 9:45 am. Graduates are not allowed to bring anything into the Gold Room. This includes purses, backpacks, and cell phones. For more information and guidelines for the ceremony, please see Ms. McGinnis's May 28th email here.

Summer Reading


All students at Blair are expected to read at least one book and complete an assignment for each text read over the summer. Summer reading lists are arranged by grade level. Students have choice in their reading and choice in their assignments. Click here for details.

PE Aquatics


High schoolers: Have you fulfilled all your PE requirements for graduation? If not, and you are interested in taking Aquatics for PE Credit next school year during 6th period, please see your guidance counselor. 

Scholarship Opportunities


The Mark Stirdivant Scholarships for Justice award scholarships for art, essay, and video submissions. The scholarships are open to all students in 9th - 12th grade for the 2023-24 school year. Details can be found on their website. The deadline for application is August 31st.


The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. The 2024 application will be available from August 1st until October 2nd. Details on their website.
