Reflections on Parish Weekend at Honey Creek
by Dottie Pitts

What an incredible time of fellowship and bonding we had at Honey Creek this past weekend!! Those of you who have been there know, and those of you who haven’t yet, will discover that our church conference center is truly holy ground.

Our time there was multifaceted.

There was time available to meet with Father Hal for confession, counsel, or just to get to know him better and him to know us individually.

We also had a session to verbalize our hopes and dreams for Christ Church. Possibilities were discussed and ideas on how they might be set in motion were considered.

The worship services; praying and singing together brought us all closer.

We held services where ALL were involved whether it was as leader of the service, an acolyte, reader of lessons or praying prayers of the people. It served as a great opportunity to learn how to use the lectionary and discover even more of the beauty of the prayer book. The healing service was specially touching to me.

A highlight at one service was the opportunity for us to serve the eucharist to each other. The beauty of seeing a child serve a parent, spouses serving each other, and friends serving friends was a moving experience where the Holy Spirit was powerfully present.

A greater bonding of friends, whether newly made or life long, was a joy to behold.

During the games we played, shared prayer time, or one on one conversations where we shared our stories, deepened the relationships already present. It was a beautiful revelation to see God’s love in action through each other.

I believe we all came away as closer friends and sharing a greater sense of belonging to this amazing group known as our Christ Church family.

A Prayer for Ukraine
God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today. We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace for wisdom, discernment, and compassion to guide their decisions. Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them. We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.
