BLUEGRASS SUNDAY

Top-tappin’ and hand-clappin’ is the order of the day, June 11, as St. Nicholas hosts Heaven’s Harvest Bluegrass Band! Join us for this special worship service at 10am with The Rev. Dr. Harold Lockit celebrating Holy Eucharist, followed by a potluck lunch. Look for the potluck dish signup sheet in the narthex (fried chicken will be provided).

And, dancing in the aisles will be permitted!

Reprise of the acclaimed Harris Co. High students' Black History showcase. No fee for vendors but they are asked to make a donation and must register - Contact Elaine at powell.elaine08@gmail.com

Lunch served following the show, no charge!

St. Nicholas parishioners are asked to promote the event and

volunteer to help on the day of the show.

Location is Cathedral of Hope just north of Hamilton.

Parish Picnic at Blue Springs

Our tradition continues with the outdoor service at the Callaway family’s Blue Springs on Sunday, August 6 at 10am.

A covered dish picnic will occur after the service.

There will be a covered food sign up a few weeks before.

It is fine to bring friends, swimsuits and towels!

Please plan to come and enjoy worship and fellowship at this beautiful (and unique) location.

Back Snacks Sunday

Sunday May 28, St. Nicholas honored our Back Snacks ministry. Kathy McMurtry, co-leader with Ashley Tayor, gave a brief report on the success of the ministry during the past school year. She reported that Back Snacks had provided weekend food for 102 food insecure children in Harris County elementary and middle schools – twice as many as the year before.

The cost has risen dramatically because Feeding the Valley no longer has appropriate low-cost, shelf-stable goods. Kathy asked us to spread the word about the ministry and help promote partnerships with the community for food drives and donations. The ministry resumes with the start of school in August.

Two exceptional volunteers were presented certificates of appreciation.

Nate Taylor for his exemplary service and leadership as the “above and beyond” volunteer Operations Manager and Aleisha McMurtry for her passionate service and leadership as the top recruiter of volunteer packers.

We all congratulate them with big thanks!

Rector’s Discretionary Fund Needs Bolstering

In keeping with Church Canon, St. Nicholas has a Rector’s Discretionary Fund to meet, confidentially, critical needs of the poor in our community. Payments are not made to the individual directly but to the

landlord, utility, or other provider.

Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministries provides similar

support throughout our convocation.

The St. Nichlas account has always been funded by designated gifts, occasional loose offerings, or services performed for weddings and funerals. For some time, St. Nicholas has received a sizeable,

monthly gift to the Fund. The gift has not been renewed this year and

other donations are slim.

As a stopgap, the Vestry has decided to assign all cash loose offerings to the discretionary fund account until gifts resume at usual levels or other sources are identified. Currently, loose offerings are very small

so we also asking for larger gifts in order to meet the

appeals that St. Nicholas receives.

Change to Tai Chi schedule.

Tai Chi, hosted by Lynn Norris, will change to Tuesday mornings at 10am for the summer months.

If you have an event coming up, an announcement you'd like to share, or have recently experienced a birth, death, or sickness and would like some EXTRA prayers!! Send them to contact@stnicholashamilton.org or call the office at 706-628-7272.
