BE INVOLVED AND HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE | |
Last month, Jack Coe, New Zealand's oldest living man, died at age 107. He celebrated his birthday May 11 and died on May 14. At age 106, he was still living at home, chopping his own firewood and taking walks into town. His son said his dad had "no interest in sitting around, watching TV and waiting to die." Wow! 107 years old. For those who want to know, the oldest known living person is Maria Branyas of Spain at 116 years. She credits 'a good connection with family and friends...and staying away from toxic people' as some reasons to a long life."
Our lives, of course, are in God's hands, but studies show that people who volunteer may live longer than those who don't, as long as their reasons for volunteering are to help others rather than themselves and that people who had higher levels of optimism had a longer life span. Being involved with church and people's lives and having a positive attitude does have a good effect on your life.
Paul said, "Think about things that are excellent" (Phil 4:8), "encourage one another" (1 Thes 5:11), and use our gifts "to serve one another" (1 Peter 4:10).
So, let's remember to put into practice what Paul reminds us as believers to do; we also have something great to look forward to in eternity. Be involved in the lives of others and have a positive attitude.

MAJOR TYPHOON HITS GUAM
PCN | Bayview Church | Mongmong, Guam
| Powerful Typhoon Mawar smashed Guam last week with high winds and heavy rain, knocking down trees, walls and power lines. Pastor Kevin Elwell, from our PCN church, Bayview, said power and water were unavailable for a few days. With their sanctuary drying out from almost 24 inches of rain, they held an outdoor worship service this past Sunday to share, pray, and support one another. The typhoon was the strongest to hit the island of roughly 150,000 people since 2002, which destroyed the sanctuary of Bayview. Their new building withstood the 150 winds, but solar panels, trees, carpet, and windows may need replacing. We will let you know if the need becomes overwhelming for this growing church of several hundred. Keep them in your prayers. | |

FINDING HOME HOPEFULLY
Mission 316 church | San Marcos, CA
| Mission 316, planted in 2012, has hopefully found a permanent home. Pastor Sam Brumit says that after years of renting community centers, they had the opportunity to share a building with Gateway Community Church in San Marcos, just off the 78 freeway. They currently have two separate services, but this fall, Gateway's pastor is planning to retire, and Gateway will dissolve. The hope is that many will move to Mission 316 as it continues to be a strong growing community of believers. Be in prayer that this plan will work for the glory of God. | |
