Worship this Week

We have an unique worship schedule this week. Please make note of the following changes:

  • TONIGHT we will have a regular worship service in the sanctuary at 6:30 PM. Everyone is invited to join us if you are able. Travis' message is "An Encourager," and the scripture is Acts 11:19-24. The Nicely, Whitlow, & Melchers group will lead our songs, and we will also observe the Lord's Supper. (If you need gluten free communion elements, please contact Whitney.) There will be no Nursery or Children's Worship tonight, but your little ones are welcome in the sanctuary.
  • SUNDAY, June 4th the church will be CLOSED due to the Ironman competition here in Vinton. Tonight's worship service will be recorded and broadcast on our website at 10:30 AM this Sunday morning. The broadcast will not automatically post to Facebook, as usual, so please visit our website, scroll down on the homepage, and click the button under "Livestream."

As of Sunday, June 11th we plan to be back on a regular schedule.

Vacation Bible School

This year's VBS theme is STELLAR: Shine Jesus' Light! VBS will take place July 23rd - 27th, 5:30 - 8:00 PM daily. From 5:30 - 6:00 PM, dinner will be offered in the classrooms, delivered by our dinner leaders and helpers. At 6:00 PM we will begin rotations. Each crew will stick together most of the time in their own room for Bible study/story, crafts, games, and science experiments. Crews will leave their rooms for rotations in music (led by Chris & Mary Beth) and games/rec, as well as to attend the opening and closing ceremonies. Crews will be divided by grade/age level, and our goal is to have 8-12 kids per crew. Crew leaders and helpers are most needed at this point. We will also have a preschool experience led by Jessica Brewer that will operate on their own in a smaller setting.

Please click here to register as a volunteer AND to register your kids or grandkids as participants! If you have a youth who would like to help, feel free to register them as a helper in any area where they would like to serve. See Jessie Burgess, Christina Epperly, or Whitney Russell with questions.

Bible Reading Plan

We just finished both Judges and Psalms in our Bible Reading Plan, and now we're on to Ruth and Proverbs. We've said very little about Psalms so far, and I wanted to share some info with you provided by BibleProject that will help you reflect on the Book of Psalms. Remember, over the course of the two full years of our Bible Reading Plan, we will read Psalms a total of four times. So take a look at this video about the structure and content of Psalms, and keep these things in mind as we come back around to this book the next time.
