Neighborhood Bridges Seeking Volunteers

Do you enjoy helping others? Are you active on social media? We could use your help!

Neighborhood Bridges uses technology and social media to advocate for children and families in need and then engages the community via a “campaign of kindness” to fill those needs. This program began in our district two years ago and has been quietly and directly helping families during that time.

Kings Local Neighborhood Bridges is looking to add two volunteers as area co-Directors. Co-Directors will help promote our program in the community, organize donation campaigns, and maintain a social media presence so that our subscribers are aware of the good work we are doing.

If you or anyone you know may be interested, please contact:

Becky Lemon, Kings Resource Coordinator and NB area Co-Director at blemon@kingslocal.net or 513-398-8050 x 15011, or Kim Sellers, Kings Social Emotional Health Coordinator at Ksellers@kingslocal.net or 513-398-8050, x 10056.

All State Children's Choir

Seven Kings Local School District students will be in Columbus next week to rehearse and perform in concert as members of the Ohio All-State Children's Chorus.

The concert will be attended by hundreds of parents and music educators during the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference taking place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The chorus will perform at 5:00 PM, on Thursday, February 2 in the Hyatt Regency Ballroom in downtown Columbus. The conductor of the 2023 All-State Children's Chorus is Craig Knapp, who in addition to being an elementary choral and classroom music specialist, directs the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York’s Children’s Treble Choirs, where he has conducted at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Kings Local School District All-State Children's Chorus members are CIS 6th graders Keaton Collins, and Christina Grijalba; CIS 5th grader Hadley Brown and KME 4th graders Addison Heilmann, Jonathan Kennedy, Abbie Ksander, and Fiona Wang.

Air Camp is Back for 2023

Air Camp is a hands-on, educational adventure in aviation and aeronautics. They inspire students at the intermediate and middle school levels, as well as teachers and educational leaders across all grades, to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) using aviation and aerospace as our medium while promoting the values of scholarship, leadership, and citizenship.

All programs actively engage students (entering grades 4-12) in learning modules that are reflective of STEM in aviation and aeronautics with an emphasis on leadership, scholarship, and citizenship. Scheduled programs include elementary student programs (entering grades 4-6 this fall) on a first come, first served basis, while a complete application is required to be considered for selection to participate in all middle school programs (entering grades 7-9 this fall), and high school programs (entering grades 10-12 this fall). Visit aircampusa.org for more information.

Digital Flyers

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.

Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!
