“Set the tone for your day by treating people better than you expect to be treated by them. Be the first to smile. EXPRESS YOUR APPRECIATION FOR THEM. Expect the best out of them. If you act first, you will set yourself up for success.”

How Can You Finish Strong?
Greetings Members of District 65,
Can you believe that we have 30 days left of this program year? Have you discussed what you can do to end this year strong within your club? Have you talked about Toastmasters to your friends and family and invited them to a meeting? What do you need to do to finish your level in Pathways? Have you completed your goals that you set out to accomplish this year?
This may seem like a lot to accomplish, but if you picked one action item to complete and were able to finish the goal, and if several of the members of your club did the same, can you imagine how much stronger your club would end up this year? It only takes one member to start this conversation. It takes a few more members to agree that they will complete their goal and the club will be stronger.
It has been a challenging year for all clubs in District 65. I hope that when this year is completed, that you take time to reflect on the lessons learned. Most of all, I hope that you thank the members who helped you in your journey. A journey that is shared is a journey that is more memorable and gratifying.

Beat the Clock
Program Dates: May 1 – June 30
Toastmasters are taught to run meetings on time, finish speeches on time and reach membership goals on time. In that spirit, Beat the Clock is a great motivator for finishing the year on schedule—on time and with record numbers!
Make it your club’s goal to earn the Beat the Clock award and encourage every member to take part. Clubs adding five new, dual, or reinstated members with a join date between May 1 and June 30 receive a Beat the Clock ribbon to display on the club’s banner. Qualifying clubs also earn a special discount code for 10% off their next club order.
Applications and payments for members with a join date between May 1 and June 30 must be received at World Headquarters or online no later than June 30. The addition of transfer and charter members does not count toward Beat the Clock credit.
Clubs who earn 2023 Beat the Clock and notify District Director Kate Olsen, DTM, @ klolsen@rochester.rr.com by June 30, 2023, will receive a $50 TI Gift Certificate and 5 Promotional Welcome Ribbons when they send the 5 names in an email. Include the name of the officer and address that the TI Gift Certificate is mailed along with the ribbons.
In addition to the Beat the Clock incentive above, all education awards earned through Base Camp and submitted through Club Central will receive ribbons.
Let's see how many Clubs can become distinguished this year!

Finish Strong and Empower Your Clubs Into Next Year
How do you do that?
- Encourage your members to finish those projects and submit them.
- Verify that your Club VPE, President, or Secretary approves your awards in Base Camp and submits them in Club Central.
- Look for extra speaking opportunities. Reach out to your Club VPE or your Area or Division Director to speak at other Clubs. Suggest a Speak-a-thon.
- Watch for those level completion ribbons to arrive from our District Director Kate Olsen, DTM, PDG.
- Submit your Club Officer list before the upcoming Club Officer Training (Jine 10th and 13th). Please note that the more Club Officers attend training, the more likely your Club is to be successful.

Division Showcase
There is still time for our clubs to reach Distinguished status. Today as a proud Division Director, I want to recognize the 5 clubs in Division A who have already achieved this accomplishment.
President’s Distinguished! The height of success:
Area 13: Top Tier! Downtown Toastmasters! With 9 goals achieved, 14 education awards and 28 members, they were the first in the division to achieve President’s Distinguished Club. Second to reach 9 goals is Clarence Toastmasters with 16 members and 13 education awards. Huge congrats for a job well done!! Both clubs plan to reach all 10 goals by the deadline, June 30.
Area 11: AM Lockport has achieved Select Distinguished status so far with 8 goals and plans to reach President’s Distinguished status before the deadline. They have 32 members and 18 education awards.
Area 14: 2 clubs have reached Distinguished Club status with 6 goals achieved – Concord Spellbinders has 9 members and has logged 8 education awards. Toast of Roswell has 15 members and 7 education awards. One more goal for each club will bring them to Select Distinguished.
Honorable mention and oh- so- close are the following clubs: Prose of Speech, Rhetorical Roar, HSBC Toastmasters. In fact, by the time you read this they may have already reached it.
It’s been a pleasure to visit these clubs this year and experience their meetings. If you have time over the summer, reach out and visit them. See what successful ideas you can bring back to share with your own club.
