The Dharmalaya Community in Eugene, Oregon held an inspiring Spring Weekend Retreat in May with the theme :
"Let Us Move Together"
Ac. Gayatri’s shared the following comments to open the retreat:
Here’s a wonderful translation of the ancient Sanskrit chant Samgacchavam. It poetically encapsulates ideals that express what makes life worth living. And this is what we are going to follow to live more intensely during these two days of the retreat.
Let us move together. As a community we will dance kiirtan, we will move through asanas, we will walk to the river, we will wash the dishes – together.
Let us sing together. At the beginning of classes, at the beginning and end of meditations, during our evening program, at dharmacakra, we will sing and radiate the same thought wave. Music will do its magic!
Let us come to know our minds together. Through discussion, reflection, and sharing we will discover more of our deep selves.
Let us share like sages of the past. I don’t know if we can be sages, but we can definitely become wiser through our sharing.
That all people together may enjoy the universe. As we become more aware, we get more light in our mind, we perceive others' light, and we can better enjoy this wonderful universe we are part of.
Unite our intention. What do we want to do? Remember: The people united will never be defeated!
May our hearts be inseparable. Love, love, and more love – may it flow and unite our hearts that we may be an ocean of kindness.
Our mind is as one mind, as we to truly know one another become one. One as a cosmic consciousness – alive, inspiring, bringing goodness to humanity.
