President's Message

Happy soon to be Summer depending on where you live. Idaho offers significant opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. My family and I recently spent time in Lewiston Idaho enjoying a walk in the State Park along the snake river. It felt like summer even though it was

still April! We also visited https://www.nezpercecountymuseum.com/ which has a replica built

of Idaho’s first Capital building, https://www.nezpercecountymuseum.com/copy-of-store . It was a good reminder of Idaho’s rich history. We are making history today as we organize our lives, communities, and businesses. We are writing history and impacting future generations. Similar, our State Association, https://iahu.org/ is organized and working on behalf of our members to improve our members ability to meet the health, financial, and retirement security needs of all Idahoans. For example, in early April, we recently we held our annual health Symposium in Meridian, Idaho. This was the culmination of work done by a committee chaired by Stacie Anthony, our incoming State President July 1st, turn out and feedback have been positive.

Thank you to Phaedra Anderson and Angie Jackson for leading our legislative initiatives in coordination with our State Lobbyist. Legislative updates are sent out to members https://iahu.org/legislative-updates/. Benn Brocksome, Peyton Nunes, and the team have been instrumental

in helping keep our Association abreast of legislative items and changes that might be of interest to our Association along with helping us build industry relationships. Additionally, Lisa Wilson, our State Pac chair helps us stay organized with our State Pac. If you’re interested in learning how to contribute to our State PAC, email, iahu.org@gmail.com PAC funds provides the ability to support candidates we believe will be instrumental for our Associations priorities.

Our State Association finances continue to be sound. Access to State board meeting minutes ban be found here: https://iahu.org/meeting-minutes/ Along with our financials: https://iahu.org/financials/ A special Thank you to Brett Thomas for keeping up the state

Association website with all the content and links and Pedro Rojas for managing our social

media posts and digital needs.

Thank you for your continued membership and serving Idahoans with their health

insurance needs. If you know someone who may benefit with a membership, they can join here

to your local or State chapter.

Legislative Report

Your Idaho NABIP lobbyist team, the state NABIP board and local NABIP Legislative chairs have all been working together to determine where we can make a difference in the upcoming election.   We have determined that we can have the greatest impact in the state primaries. The state primary election is coming up on May 21!!! Please get out and vote – many of the state positions are determined in the primary as the Republican will likely win the general election. This past year, we struggled to effectively support legislation that was important to our organization due to lack of transparency. We met with our lobbyist and let them know that we would like to support candidates that are closer to the center, either left leaning or right leaning but most important - willing to listen to Idahoans and our organization! From meetings with our lobbyist , local legislative chairs and the state board we have identified 30 candidates that we will use NABIP – Idaho PAC money to support.

Chapter News

The Eastern Idaho NABIP chapter convenes its board monthly alongside membership meetings. Recent events have covered diverse topics such as aiding seniors through their aging journey with insights from Chance Powell of Senior Solutions, Medicaid education by Luisa Dailey of Molina, and a Bowling Tournament that donated half its proceeds to ECAP. Pat Kelly from YHI shared valuable information, and members enjoyed a picnic with carriers. Additionally, participation in the Health Symposium and Day on the Hill underscored the chapter's commitment to staying informed and engaged. We appreciate the support of our carriers, who have attended several of our member meetings.
