Thanks for Joining Us!
Meet CLE 2021 was a great success! Faculty and staff accompanied 200 first-year students on a jam-packed day dedicated to community building and exploring Cleveland. We engaged with 12 community partners in the morning, followed by lunch on Whiskey Island. We concluded the afternoon with a range of outdoor activities, including dragon boating, biking, walking, mural painting, and games at the lakefront. Thank you so much to everyone who joined us last week!
"It was fun and gave me a good view and idea of my surroundings in the Cleveland area."

New Hires

Maggie Klem is joining the Center for Service and Social Action as the new Graduate Assistant for this upcoming year.

Maggie is a John Carroll University alum who graduated in 2020 with a major in Psychology. Maggie absolutely loved being a part of the John Carroll community and building meaningful and wonderful relationships with the faculty, staff and students. Throughout her undergraduate studies she had the pleasure of participating in the Carroll Reads program; an early literacy tutoring opportunity for undergraduate students to support the reading and writing development of students in kindergarten through third grade. If you have any questions about the Carroll Reads program please do not hesitate to reach out to her.

She participated in a year of service after graduating from JCU through an organization called City Year based here in Cleveland. Her experiences brought her back to school to pursue a master’s degree in School Counseling.

Caity Grundtisch joined the Center for Service-Learning and Social Action this summer as the new Assistant Director for Student Engagement and Community Impact.

Caity's experiences both on and off campus at the University of Dayton led to her decision to enroll in the Higher Education & Student Affairs Administration program at Canisius College. Throughout her graduate career, Caity worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Center for Community-Based Learning. In this role, Caity had the opportunity to develop strong relationships with multiple non-profit organizations in Buffalo, NY, which has further deepened her passion for community outreach.

Caity is excited to meet JCU students and familiarize herself with community engagement initiatives in Cleveland.

Feel free to stop in and introduce yourself!
