Connecting the Dots
Welcome to our November newsletter. Wisconsin CONNECT is a collaborative. We seek to provide technical assistance and training opportunities for substance use prevention and treatment grantees, providers, clinicians, social workers, and support staff.

We draw on local and national academic and community resources to reduce and prevent substance use and improve overall health and wellness in Wisconsin.

To that end, we want to help you connect the dots with this newsletter. It is a tool to support our efforts to promote new research, share tools and trainings that aim to help you engage in different communities, enhance practice and improve the health of your clients and program participants.
The Opioid Crisis and the Labor Market
A Webinar

There have been over a million drug overdose deaths in the United States since 1999. While this crisis is national in scope, there is considerable variation by both geography and subpopulation. Many potential factors influence this variation, but one area of interest is in how changes in the labor market may be connected to increases in addiction and "deaths of despair" and, at the same time, how rising rates of drug use may be lowering overall labor force participation.

In this webinar, we will hear from Shannon Monnat of Syracuse University, Anita Mukherjee of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Rourke O'Brien of Yale University. The presenters will discuss trends in the U.S. opioid crisis and overdose cases related to other drugs, how differences in state-level policy responses to the crisis may be leading to different labor market outcomes, and how automation and other changes in manufacturing employment may be connected to increases in working-age mortality.

Hosted by Wisconsin University-Madison Institute for Poverty Research on Wednesday, November 16 from 1pm-2pm CST.

The Nuts and Bolts of Contingency Management

PRISM Collaborative Contingency Management Training Team is excited to bring to you the next phase in our training that we call, CM Nuts & Bolts. We are working with Bernestine to provide this training the week of November 7th. Prior to our in-person training, we are sending our CM Training Preparation Survey to gather some information about your organizations. This information helps us understand where you are in the CM preparation phase and helps us prepare for our time together. You may have not attended the first phase of training, CM Overview, which is another reason the survey will help us get to know you.

Below is the CM Training Preparation Survey link.

Thank you in advance and we look forward to meeting with you in November.
