BRYANT FARMS ROAD EXTENSION UPDATE

Beginning THIS Monday, May 13, the small section of Blakeney Heath Rd between Bryant Farms Rd/Elm Ln and Park Farms Ln will be closed as the City starts work on the new traffic circle.

For example, maybe your favorite teacher would love a donation to be made in his/her honor to Friends Empowering Haiti, which helps fund school meals and operations, the medical clinic and special projects at the school in Bayonnais, Haiti. Sign Up for Walking Tour in Uptown Charlotte with the CARE Group


Sunday, May 19, 1:30-3:30 p.m., Polk Park, 501 N. Tryon Street (Carpools Meeting at 12:45 at SMPC) - Join us for a two-hour guided walking tour of uptown Charlotte called "Charlotte’s Haunted Future" that explores how stories of "exclusions and invisibilities" have been written into the Charlotte cityscape. With guide and author Greg Jarrell, participants will walk through Uptown looking for what has been hidden. Cost is $20/person. Please register by Thursday, May 16. | Contact: Whitney Bayer

Service Opportunity: Be a Proctor for Smithfield End of Grade (EOG) Testing


May 24, May 29, and/or May 30, 7:15-11:30, Smithfield Elementary School - Please consider being a proctor for Smithfield Elementary's EOG testing. This is a stress-free and EASY service opportunity!

 

A proctor walks quietly during the testing session. They are always paired with a trained teacher, who is in charge of giving the test.


If you are not a CMS registered volunteer, please complete this registration ASAP, so that you can help proctor. 


Before the test administration, proctors must be trained. Training will occur on the morning of the test from 7:30-7:50 a.m. in the Media Center.

Get to Know Roof Above through an Orientation and Tour


Monday, June 10, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Roof Above, 945 N. College Street, Charlotte, NC 28206 - Join us for a "Fast Track to Serve" orientation and tour. We will tour the facility, learn more about Roof Above's mission of ending homelessness, and discover more opportunities to partner and serve with them.

Friends Empowering Haiti (formerly Friends of OFCB) is raising money to purchase food for the school in Bayonnais, Haiti. BAM! Bible and Music End of Year Party, Sunday, May 19, 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.,Children in Kindergarten-5th Grade - Celebrate our last BAM! of the school year! During BAM!, children sing, creatively engage with Bible stories, and explore various instruments in peer age groups. They occasionally sing, play instruments, or display their creations during Sunday worship. We end with a pizza dinner and free play time.
