White Collar Support Group

341st Meeting Online on Zoom

Mon., Jan. 2, 2022

7 pm ET, 6 pm CT, 5 pm MT, 4 pm PT

We are a community of individuals, families and groups with white collar justice issues who have a desire to take responsibility for our actions and the wreckage we caused, make amends, and move forward in new way of life centered on hope, care, compassion, tolerance and empathy. Our experience shows us that many of us are suffering in silence with shame, remorse, and deep regret. Many of us have been stigmatized by our own families, friends and communities, and the business community. Our goal is to learn and evolve into a new spiritual way of life and to reach out in service to others. Over 550 Fellow Travelers have participated in our support group meetings.

Thank you for referring justice-impacted people and families: [email protected]. Fellow Traveler volunteers handle information inquiries and intakes.

For press/media inquiries: [email protected]

IMPORTANT!: If you are currently on supervised release, probation or parole, it is important that you first discuss this with your P.O. To assist in this regard, information about our ministry is available on prisonist.org.

Learn To Ask Clients: Are You OK?

Dec. 16, 2022

"I guarantee you 100% that things are not going to go the way you think they are... some things will go better and some things will go worse, but they're not going to go the way you think." - Jeff Grant

_________________________

While many lawyers also struggle with mental health issues, attorneys often view the mental health of clients as "outside the purview of what they're hired to do — it's just not their job," Grant says. That's one of the main reasons he says he created the support group, the only one of its kind in the country that he's aware of, for people accused of white collar crimes. "We've had over 550 people who have participated in our support group as members...," he says.

"The people who you would imagine would most know about the stresses and trauma of the criminal justice system just don't do any type of counseling at all," Grant says, referring to lawyers, who also have little guidance on dealing with clients with mental health issues..."

What an amazing day and evening. Huge thanks to our panelists Seth Williams, Bill Baroni, Michele Weinstat Miller, and Jeff Wertkin for your courage and candor in telling your stories, to all our White Collar Support Group members and other ABA criminal justice conference attendees for your support, and to the 15 of us who shared love and laughter - and great food - at Carmine’s. Truly one of the greatest days of my life. I am truly blessed and grateful! - Jeff

Details: Lawyers convicted and incarcerated for white collar or nonviolent crimes will share their stories, experiences and difficulties during prosecution and reentering society after prison, and will make recommendations as to how the white collar bar and criminal justice system can be more effective, humane and merciful towards white collar defendants (and their families) while better fulfilling their obligation to enhance rehabilitation through diversion and other alternatives to incarceration.
