A Magical Evening at the 2024 Annual Dinner ✨

Applications for Leadership Huntington

Class of 2024-25 Are Now Open! ✅

The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for our second Leadership Huntington class! Leadership Huntington is a program designed to connect, develop, empower, and mobilize current and emerging leaders who are committed to making a difference in the Huntington region. The program is open to all individuals who live or work in Cabell or Wayne County.

 

The program aims to bring together leaders from diverse industries and backgrounds to foster collaboration, promote community involvement, and develop a network of informed and engaged leaders. The curriculum is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the region's economic, social, and political landscape, while equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to tackle complex business challenges.

 

This is a 10-month program starting in September 2024 and ending in June 2025. Participants meet once a month for a full day excluding a two-day orientation. Each session will be organized around a theme and will be explored through speakers, discussions, field trips, and exclusive experiential activities. with Anna Adkins! 💚

Join us for this month’s meeting at the Heritage Station Visitors Center with Anna Adkins! Anna will discuss tourism and the importance of spending your dollars locally. 


A native of Ceredo-Kenova, Anna now calls Huntington home. She has been with the Huntington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau since 2013. She started as the Visitors Center Supervisor and was promoted to Sales Manager in less than a year. She graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a master’s degree in Public Administration. She is a member of Huntington Young Professionals, Women’s Impact Network, and the Community Impact Committee of United Way of the River Cities. She also serves as an Ambassador for the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce and as Board Chair for Generation West Virginia. Anna was part of the first class of Leadership Huntington, a program designed to connect, develop, empower, and mobilize current and emerging leaders who are committed to making a difference in the Huntington region. She is passionately invested in improving her community and sharing the positive narrative experienced by so many proud West Virginians.

Goldman Sachs Presents 10,000 Small Businesses: Webinar on May 28 🖥️

The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Foundation has teamed up with the Goldman Sachs Foundation to offer a webinar on an upcoming opportunity for small businesses, that may be of benefit to your members. 

 

West Virginia has been selected as a location for Goldman Sachs Foundation's flagship program, 10,000 Small Businesses, a free practical business training program. 

 

This program offers small business owners invaluable tools and knowledge to grow and scale their companies. Through classes delivered online and in-person, business owners learn from some of the brightest minds in the business, gain knowledge on access to financial capital, all while building a powerful network of professional support

 

This is a rare opportunity to learn from Goldman Sachs-lead teams and connect with other business leaders across the country to learn and scale your business.

 

Qualified participants for the 10,000 Small Businesses program must have a minimum annual revenue of $75,000two years of business operation, and at least two employees.

 

Join us on May 28th at 10 a.m. for a virtual information session led by Goldman Sachs executives and the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Discover program details, expected outcomes, and application procedures.

In-demand Career Skills Program Enrolling for Fall Term ⚙️

The nationally recognized career skills programs at the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) are enrolling new students for fall term. Train close to home for an in-demand career in machining, welding or – new this year – enhanced industrial maintenance technology.


Students in all three programs can earn industry credentials, a one-year certificate and a two-year degree in applied science through MAMC’s partnership with local community and technical colleges.

The enhanced industrial maintenance program known as SMART* (Systems Maintenance, Automation and Robotics Technology), offered in partnership with Mountwest Community & Technical College, was created with input from 16 regional manufacturers to tackle the pressing demand locally for skilled industrial maintenance technicians.

Cabell-Huntington Health Department to Offer Summer Evening Vaccine Clinics 💉

The Cabell-Huntington Health Department will be conducting a series of evening vaccine clinics this summer. The dates are June 3, July 1, August 5, and September 9. The clinics will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the department, located at 703 7th Avenue. No appointment is necessary. 


All childhood vaccines will be available for children who are uninsured, underinsured, or covered under Medicaid or CHIP. The following vaccines will be available for children: Tdap, Polio, Meningococcal, and MMRV. Adult and travel vaccines will also be available for uninsured or underinsured patients. 


Kathleen Napier, Director of Nursing for Cabell-Huntington Health Department, commented, “We understand it is sometimes difficult for parents or family members to get to our clinic during regular hours. We are happy to offer these extended vaccine clinics through the summer months as a convenience. Parents or guardians may also take advantage of these clinics to get their children caught up on required vaccinations before the back-to-school rush.”

HMA to Showcase the Artwork of Participants in Studio Classes and Workshops 🖼️

The Huntington Museum of Art will display artwork by participants in its studio classes and workshops during the Studio Selections exhibit from May 25 through June 23, 2024. A free opening reception for this exhibit will take place on Tuesday, May 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of the 4th Tuesday Tour Series at HMA.

 

“We enjoy showcasing the work of participants in the art classes and workshops at the Huntington Museum of Art by giving them the opportunity to display their artwork in a museum setting,” said HMA Education Director Cindy Dearborn. “We are impressed with the quality of the work taking place in our art studios here at HMA and we think the public will appreciate the artwork as well.”

Valley Health's Dr. Caleb Huff Earns Four Master Surgeon Accreditations, Setting New Standards in Women's Healthcare Excellence 🩺

Valley Health Systems proudly announces that Dr. Caleb Huff has been distinguished as the recipient of four Master Surgeon accreditations from the esteemed Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). These accreditations include Continence Care for Women, Multidisciplinary Endometriosis Care, Minimally Invasive Gynecology, and Robotic Surgery.


Dr. Huff, a respected obstetrician and gynecologist serving the Huntington, WV community, joined Valley Health Systems, Inc. in 2022.  His areas of interest include robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, infertility, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and high-risk obstetrics. 


The SRC accreditations, recognized for their stringent standards, highlight Dr. Huff's relentless pursuit of excellence and patient well-being. Surgeons seeking SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection to ensure the applicant meets SRC's proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways, standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education, and continuous quality assessment.


Dr. Caleb Huff is accepting new patients at the Pea Ridge Women's Health Center and Valley Health Hurricane. Individuals are encouraged to schedule appointments at either location.
