Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) is an applied technology and training organization, aiding manufacturers in overcoming technology, training and process challenges. CCAT manages many State and Federal grants and programs including to offset costs of new capital equipment, and upskilling workers, especially in advanced processes and digital transformation.

Governor Lamont Signs Legislation Expanding Connecticut’s Paid Sick Days Laws To Include More Workers


3 Phase Plan Affecting Small Business Owners

Connecticut’s existing paid sick days laws require employers with more than 50 employees that are mostly in specific retail and service occupations (such as food service workers, health care workers, and others) to provide their employees with up to 40 hours of paid sick leave annually.

The new legislation will expand the requirement to include those businesses under 50 employees. As of:


Jan. 1, 2025 for companies with 25 or more employees Jan. 1, 2026 for those with 11 or more Jan. 1, 2027 with 1 or more employees.


Employees accrue one hour of paid time off for every 30 hours worked, capped at 40 hours leave annually.

myconneCT

What it is and How to register

What is myconneCT? myconneCT is the new Connecticut Department of Revenue Services’ (DRS) online portal to file tax returns, make payments, and view your filing history. myconneCT is one part of a multi-year, multi-phase information technology (IT) modernization initiative.


Registration. You will also be asked to create a username and password to manage your business tax accounts in myconneCT. After applying, you'll receive a confirmation email. You will need to login to your myconneCT account to view your Connecticut Tax Registration number and your registered accounts. In order to complete this business tax registration, you will need:


  • The Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) of the business or the Social Security Number (SSN) of the sole proprietor. If your business does not have an FEIN (and you are not a sole proprietor), you need to apply for an FEIN with the IRS. Apply for an FEIN.
  • The legal name of the business or the sole-proprietor's name
  • The business name (DBA), if applicable
  • The business address
  • Banking information to pay permit/license fees (if applicable) The application fees once submitted are not refundable.
  • The names and Social Security Numbers of responsible owners/officers
