Greetings Friends!

Our perfect summer's go way too fast!  At 75-80 degrees and low humidity during the day, we can be outside constantly.  I especially enjoy eating on the patio/deck of my favorite places.  When was the last time you opened your windows at night with temps in the 50’s and pulled up your down comforter??? Every night here for me! It really is heavenly.

REAL ESTATE UPDATE

The real estate prices anywhere, walking or close to the Aspen core, are getting even crazier. But if you get on your bike or Vespa a mile east or west and you can still get a very fair deal.

You have heard these stories before, but it is really true: The best buys need a year of remodeling and the properties already done are priced $4,000-$5000 per square foot and higher. If you venture close to the incredible City of Aspen golf course, you can find a brand-new product for less than $3,500 per square foot.  And, the best part is the restaurant there is great for comfort food and the back deck views over the golf course are magnificent! It is also really nice to live within walking distance versus mid or high Red Mountain as it is so easy to jump on the free city bus, or your e bike for the 5-minute ride to restaurant row or the gondola!

If Aspen were a game of Monopoly …

  • Photo- The Cooper Avenue mall will be home to a redeveloped Red Onion building, which will have new restaurant ownership from its last iteration that closed during the pandemic, and also an entertainment and education center for Jazz Aspen Snowmass. Mark Hunt is the developer behind the projects.

Developer Mark Hunt is the largest stakeholder of commercial property in downtown Aspen’s 16-block core, based on a review of Pitkin County property records. Hunt-controlled limited liability companies are linked to approximately 185,000 square feet downtown, putting him in charge of more than 15% of the core’s 1.2 million square feet of total retail and restaurant space. With a collective fair market value in the neighborhood of $220 million, those properties make Hunt’s downtown portfolio the most valuable.

Do-nut miss it: Aspen Police Department to host ‘Donuts with the Cops’ event

Aspen police are connecting the community — one sweet, almighty doughnut at a time. From 8-10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, the Aspen Police Department (APD) will host a Donuts with the Cops event at its headquarters on 540 E. Main St. There will be on-hand doughnut chefs and coffee for anyone who wants to attend. Multiple police officers and community resource officers will be present to help connect with the community and answer lingering questions community members have.

“An important component for policing a community is that the communication be a two-way street,” APD Assistant Chief Bill Linn said. “With doughnuts being a bit of a cliche for police, it’s just a fun way for us to reach out to the community.” The recurring event allows people to engage with the APD in a safe and low-stress environment involving their concerns or questions in the community. It also gives the community a chance to connect and to meet new people over doughnuts. CLICK HERE
