Time for Leadership Series: “The Battle of the Bulge 80 Years Later”

In the newest installment of our “Time for Leadership” series, we mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge – one of America’s most ferocious and bloody fights during World War II, and a pivot point in history when strong-willed leadership in the face of adversity made all the difference.

It would be remembered as General George S. Patton’s finest hour. For General Anthony McAuliffe, it was an opportunity to write into the history books a single word: "NUTS!" But it was the GIs in the cold and snow who held on to their positions with tenacity and stubbornness who made it all possible.

David Taylor Film Series: “Battle of Fallujah” on January 15

Leadership in Times of Crisis

Join us Wednesday, January 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Douglass Community Center as filmmaker David Taylor screens excerpts from his award-winning documentary “Perfect Valor” on the Battle of Fallujah, Iraq.

The film illustrates some of the most intense combat of the 2003 Iraqi war and is told through the eyes of the Marines who were in the middle of the fight. It also examines the intense pressures on the families left behind.

Note: Registration is capped at 200 attendees. Only registered participants will be admitted to this event.

The End of Ambition presents the author’s vision for the United States' role in the Middle East that highlights the changing nature of U.S. national interests and the challenges of developing grand strategy during a time of profound change in the international order.

While making the case that retrenchment is not the answer to America's problems in the Middle East, The End of Ambition highlights how America's interests in the region have begun to change and critically examines alternative approaches to Middle East policy.
