The Master of International Development Policy (MIDP) program hosted Stefan Dercon, professor of economic policy at the University of Oxford, for a seminar discussing his latest book, which draws on his academic research and 30 years of policy experience. Professor Dercon described how the failures of markets, governments and politics keep certain countries and people impoverished while others find political “bargains.”
The McCourt School selected Ethan Rodriguez-Shah (MS-DSPP’24), an aspiring data analyst and researcher, as the 2022 Howard Scholar. As a graduate student, Rodriguez-Shah intends to focus his research at the intersection of incarceration and housing policy, while also exploring environmental racism and food apartheid.
The McCourt School hosted a unique collection of off-the-record conversations with members of the McCourt Advisory Board. Students had the opportunity to meet and engage with dynamic members of the Board who shared their perspectives and experiences in making a transformative impact in public policy across the business, nonprofit and government sectors.
In partnership with the George E. Richmond Foundation, the McCourt School welcomed five new Richmond Foundation Fellows to the Hilltop this semester.
