It's JULY! Happy Birthday USA!!! love, WCAB!

July somehow just snuck up on us again this year! And, how great to live in a town where summer is nearly sacred!

Amidst everything that is going on, WCAB is in HIGH GEAR putting on fabulous Summer Nights Concerts, planning for a fabulous ARTicipation Week and the 18th Annual Arts on the Square. Our image for the festival this year was designed by our friend and Arts Hub Resident Artist Tim Pucillo, who took his inspiration from the many years of the festival and the upcoming SHINE Sculpture Project. We can't wait to see this image all over Waupaca! You can get your own Art Quality print of the poster soon at Northern Home, downtown Waupaca!

And, July is of course the month that we celebrate our national holiday, the 4th of July. Waupaca is the quintessential town for home town celebration, See below for more info. MoJoe and Friends

"Funky - Blue  Americana" best describes MoJoe's musical style. The band plays the best of the blues and combines elements of R&B and funky Americana music. They consider Waupaca a favorite hometown. MoJoe's repertoire includes music of artists ranging from Ray Charles and James Brown to Santana and Bruno Mars. Joe Fittante is the featured vocalist, thus the name MoJoe. Tony Wagner, “TWags” is the groove oriented award winning percussionist. Kelvin Kasper the much in demand WI guitarist comps a wide variety of musical styles while Charlie Sauter, bassist extraordinaire lays down the funky sounds. Saxist, Bill Jordan is a very strong ensemble player who lays down a large, soulful sound.

… and friends! For this appearance, MoJoe will be joined by “friends” Mike Underwood on drum, “the hardest working drummer in WI”, along with trumpeter Kurt Shipe from Oshkosh.

The WCAB Community Piano is back downtown!

After a long winter at the Waupaca Park and Rec Department, the piano has returned to the Historic Bandstand downtown Waupaca, and is ready to play!

We are so impressed that people in general are taking good care of our piano. We notice that it gets covered when it is raining (there is a tarp...) and that people are playing it!

It will be tuned up soon, but actually it's not in too bad shape! So go on down and have fun playing!

SHINE UPDATE

Well, Waupaca, it's really happening! Our SHINE Community Art Project, created by community members and the Waupaca Foundry, will find it's home this fall at the Riverside Rotary Park! Four 8 foot tall panels housing 156 fused glass tiles will be installed in the park, overlooking the river, and channeling the sunlight, causing our tiles to SHINE! This summer, in honor of SHINE, we will create some SHINE related projects at Summer NIghts on June 24, on Opening Day of ARTicipation Week, and at the Arts on the Square festival on Saturday August 17. Join us as we SHINE Together!

González delves into the stories and challenges of these resilient communities, from the farmworkers who helped make Wisconsin America's breadbasket in the mid twentieth century, to the labor organizers who fought for better living and working conditions in the civil rights era, to the everyday families who continue to make space for themselves all across the state today.
