Well, we made it. To December and the end of the semester. I hope that you all are exhausted. I have certainly seen the evidence over the last couple of weeks. The folks in our department have been working tirelessly, and producing some wonderful pieces of art and scholarship. I’m quite amazed by what our performers, technicians, designers, faculty, and staff accomplished this fall. We had an amazing three week run of our fall production Fade. We ran two acting sections, a course on stage movement, and seven technical theater courses. We collaborated with Photography, RTF, Culinary Arts, Visual Communications, and Music Business Performance Technology on a range of cool projects. Faculty and students are working on shows beyond the college, making vital connections with local theater companies that will support students as they move beyond the nest. And we are applauding graduates this fall who will transfer to Texas State, UT, and St. Edward’s. Oh, and we are adding a Musical Theater Degree to our award offerings next Fall... A lot of work. A lot of good.
I couldn’t be prouder of the community that we have here. The students are awesome, the faculty and staff are awesome. The new digs are awesome. I invite you to come see the fruits of all that awesome labor on Thursday December 8th. Join us for Curtain Fall, our end of the semester showcase. It will be an evening of scenes, monologues, installation tours, and design exhibits from across the Drama Department. And there will be holiday treats for everyone!
We are closing a great semester this week, but we are only half way through the year. I know. It sounds even more exhausting. But we will all enjoy a nice long break and come back ready for more in January. Please plan to come out for our spring production, The Snow in February. And plan to stick around for the summer musical production of The Mad Ones in June. There will be a lot of other great activities in between. Join us. We’re here!
