From Your

Associational Mission Strategist

June was a great month as we had our Girl's Camp and Day Camp. Our Girl's camp was led by Nina Adams and we had 18 campers and several Camp Missionaries serving! Our Day Camp was led by Amber Posey and we had 18 children attending. There were also a great number of Camp Missionaries serving this year.

Our Boy's Camp is next week and I want to ask you to pray for Jacob Howard as he leads, as well as the other Camp Missionaries. I am thankful to the churches who supplied items for our camps as well as the churches that have and will serve the meals at our camps. We couldn't have these camps without the support of our churches.

I attended the Southern Baptist Convention in June. My wife and I attended the Southern Baptist Conference of Association Leaders before the convention. We were very blessed by the main sessions as well as the breakouts. I always gain much information to help me lead and support our churches. The Convention this year had several items of business. One of the main items of business was voting on the Law Amendment. This amendment to the constitution would bring more clarity to the role of Pastor stating only men are to serve in this position. It was voted on and the majority voted for it, but it failed the percentage to adopt it. Let me encourage you by saying that we still hold firmly to the Baptist Faith and Message as to the scriptural role of Pastor. In fact, in the past two conventions, we voted on a few churches to let them know they weren’t in friendly cooperation because of their church having women serving with the title Pastor. I believe we are still holding true to our statement of belief regarding this matter.

We elected a new President this year. His name is Clint Pressley and he serves as Pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. Please pray for him as he leads us. There were many other items of business as well as many reports from our entities. You can read about most of what happened on the Baptist Press page on Facebook. I am praying that our Convention will stay united. The only way that can happen is for our churches to pray and continue to send messengers so that we can have a voice on issues we face so that the direction of the convention will remain true to the word of God.

One of the greatest things we are known for as Southern Baptists is our giving through the Cooperative Program. Without this program, we wouldn't have missionaries financially capable of serving nationally and internationally spreading the good news of the gospel. I would encourage our churches to continue to support the missional efforts by giving to the CP.

I am grateful to serve the churches of our association. Please continue to pray for me that I can continue to be the leader and encourager for our churches. I want to support you and lead well. Please pray for all of the churches in our association as we work together to reach people with the Gospel

News Release

On Sunday, 7/14/24 at 7:14 am, Crisp County will be joining every county in the state of Georgia for the 6th Annual Statewide Bible Reading.

Each county will be meeting at their respective courthouses to read a small portion of the Bible. The entire Bible will be read publicly over our state in an hour or less.

Everyone is invited to participate in this wonderful event.

Other states are also participating in this statewide Bible reading, as well as readers in every time zone around our world.

The basis for the 7/14 date stems from the Scripture, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

For more information contact: Jerri Tuck, State Leader for the 7/14 Bible Reading:  478-230-8316 or email: jerrituck40@gmail.com or Crisp County Leader, Judye Johnson 229 322-8383 or email:  jeroldjohnson@bellsouth.net

Bring your lawn chairs - we will be about 1 hour as we read 1 Samuel 15-20

The association office has a small emergency food pantry that ministers to those in need. Many of those who we assist only have a microwave and do not have access to a stove and/or oven, so the above listed items are primarily needed.

(Please check the expiration dates before donating.)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS MINISTRY.

YOUR DONATIONS, AND ESPECIALLY YOUR PRAYERS, ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
