Temporary Closure of Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Parking April 1-5

For public safety, St. Johns County will temporarily close public access to Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Parking and beach access in the area from Monday, April 1, to Friday, April 5, as it continues to work on the $38.6 million Ponte Vedra Beach Restoration Project. The public can stay updated on the project and beach parking closures at www.sjcfl.us/PVB and by using the County’s mobile app SJC Connect, available at www.sjcfl.us/SJC-ConnectThe County released a video explaining the project, which you can watch here.

St. Johns County Confirms Sean McGee as Fire Chief

On March 19, 2024, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) unanimously approved Sean McGee as the new Fire Chief of St. Johns County Fire Rescue. Chief McGee has served in St. Johns County Fire Rescue for more than 25 years, operating as a Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, and finally as a Battalion Chief for the past 11 years.

Parks and Recreation Launches “Enjoy, Don’t Destroy” Anti-Vandalism Campaign

The St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department is launching “Enjoy, Don’t Destroy” – an anti-vandalism campaign aimed at preserving the cleanliness and beauty of our County’s beautiful public resources and conserving County funds. Enjoy, Don’t Destroy will officially launch with a public kickoff event at Julington Creek Plantation Park, located at 3060 Racetrack Road, St. Johns, at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5.

County Begins Acquisition Process of North Beach Utilities

On March 20, 2024, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) unanimously approved St. Johns Utility District (SJCUD) starting the acquisition process of North Beach Utilities, Inc. (NBU) for water and wastewater services to approximately 1,400 customers in the Vilano Beach area. A public hearing will be held on May 7, as required by Florida statutes, to determine the public interest and present the negotiated purchase and sale agreement.

Public Works Competes in APWA Northeast Florida Road-eo

The St. Johns County Public Works Road and Bridge Division recently competed in the annual APWA Northeast Florida Road-eo.
