Holy Week

Dear Friends,

It is almost time for us to shout Alleluia and ring our bells on Easter morning. First we will walk through the lessons of the Last Supper and Footwashing and the agony and grief of the Cross, and then we will reach the pinnacle of the Christian year as we celebrate Christ's resurrection.

The German writer Eberhard Arnold says that confronted with the living Jesus, the first disciples had no choice but to ask themselves "What shall we do?" and in answering their own question 'there came about a complete transformation of people's inner being, a reshaping of their lives.'

Our holiest week teaches us that God in Jesus has chosen to walk with us through absolutely everything, and to experience the all of the variables of human life. There is nothing that we cannot bring to God that is not fully understood. Whether it is illness, suffering or injustice, or joy, love and excitement, God has chosen to walk the human path with us and he cares for us. Whatever you may be going through this Easter season, know that God knows, God cares, and God wants to walk alongside you. The resurrection inspired the early followers to become a joyful community who supported each other. They were transformed to live life fully, knowing that ultimately nothing could defeat them, not even death itself.

Let us as a community at Grace, walk together this Easter in faith, hope and love.

Yours,

Rev Nicola

PS Don't forget to bring all the kids this Easter Sunday at 10.15am for Junior Church activities and the Easter Egg Hunt!

Easter Lamb Cake Competition - Sunday April 21

The Easter Lamb cake competition has been put back a couple of weeks due to Rummage sale etc but it has not been forgotten!  Below is what an Easter Lamb Cake is meant to look like and here is a sample recipe

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/17129/easter-lamb-cake-ii/

Don't worry if it isn't perfect. There will be a prize for the best looking Lamb and also the worst (just google 'Lamb Cake fails' to see how bad they can be!)

But it must be edible! Please bring your Lamb to church for judging and take it to the Upper Hall on Sunday 21st. Cannot wait to see what we produce :)
