A Note from Our Rector about a Staffing Transition
Our office administrator, Nancy Lilja-Nerheim, resigned from her position last week; her last day with us was last Thursday. I am grateful for Nancy's work with us these past 6 months and wish her well in her next endeavors.
Thank you, Vida Edmond, for once again stepping in to help us in the office! Vida graciously agreed to cover office tasks for 2 weeks as we adapt to this new time of transition.
While in the short term, this staffing change creates challenges for our day-to-day operation and the support of our ministries, it also opens the door for some discernment and creative thinking about how to organize our administration in ways that are sustainable and forward thinking. So, instead of reacting by quickly posting to fill the office administrative position, I am working with others on a 2-pronged approach for moving forward:
1. Organize a group of volunteers to work with staff, reconfiguring how we accomplish the various administrative tasks until a new staff member is added to our team.
a. Starting June 17, Roger Stratton has agreed to step in on an interim basis to manage specific administrative tasks including:
- creating the weekly email newsletter and other emails to the congregation and
- supporting the Sunday lay team, including scheduling of the lay teams. He will be paid an hourly rate for this extra work.
b. Shea Brendalen and I will assume more responsibility for certain administrative tasks.
c. We will have a team of volunteers in the office on certain days of the week to manage emails and other administrative tasks. Marilyn Clark, Mary Mann, and Jane Sandsmark have agreed to serve in this capacity (thank you!!).
2. I will convene a team to do the deeper work of envisioning how we organize administrative staffing for our congregation. St. David's has grown and adapted to doing ministry in new ways. Likewise, the administration needed to support a thriving congregation needs to reflectively change as well. I do not yet have a timeline for the work of this team.
Please continue to email the office as you normally would, including sending your prayer requests: office@stdavidsparish.org. Volunteers will monitor and respond to these emails.
Thank you, staff, for your tenacity, giftedness, generosity, and commitment to our mission and vision.
Thank you, new office volunteers Marilyn, Mary, and Jane!
And thank you to all of our members and leaders in being part of building up this body of Christ, in hope and faith.
I will continue to update you and will look forward to hearing from you as well.
In peace and gratitude,
Katherine

Hopkins Raspberry Festival - Sign Up Now!
Your St David’s Hopkins Raspberry Festival committee has been hard at work dreaming and discussing all things Raspberry. We are excited about what we have up our sleeves so far and hope you will be too.
Our Marketplace Fair Booth for Saturday July 20th will be a place for rest, refreshment, and renewal for all the fair goers traveling along Hopkins Mainstreet.
· We will have chairs to rest, maybe even a fan.
· Free Raspberry infused and plain water for refreshment.
· A Gratitude Board activity …stay tuned…. for all ages.
· Information about St David’s available
· Face Painting and children’s area to chill
· Photo-Ops with 2 large cut outs --St David himself and his red dragon…conversation starters!
· Parishioners, hopefully you, listening, getting to know our neighbors, being present, faithfully innovating!
The Parade the next day, July 21st, will be festive with options to walk, bike, sit in a wagon to be pulled, rollerblade/skate, or catch a ride in the back of a pickup truck. We can carry signs of social justice, hand out candy/stickers to folks along the way, and decorate stuff like wagons, trucks, and even ourselves.
We hope many will participate in this important Faithful Innovation activity where we have been given a truly blessed opportunity to live into St David’s mission and vision statements.
Sign up now in the Narthex on the clipboards provided next to the Raspberry poster. You can participate in just one event or both.
Questions, please contact me in person in the Narthex after church, or via email @ dcurley@stdavidsparish.org
With gratitude,
Diane Curley, Senior Warden
