A Coffee Hour Farmstand
|
Shop for Urban Farm Produce
|
Come to church this Sunday ready to do some grocery shopping!
Representatives of the Chicago Lights Urban Farm will be on hand during Coffee Hour this weekend with a variety of fresh produce available for purchase. They'll continue setting up a small farmstand during Coffee Hour twice a month until early November. While what they have available will depend on the season, keep your eyes out for a supply of salad mix, turnips, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, kale, Swiss chard, or onions in the weeks to come.

Guest Preacher for Jazz at Four
|
Please join us in welcoming back to Fourth Church Amy Pagliarella, who will be our guest preacher for the Jazz at Four worship service this
Sunday afternoon!
Amy was previously under care of our Seminarian Care Team. While working as a business consultant and serving as an elder and member of Fourth Church, she felt God's tug on her life. She pursued her Master's of Divinity at McCormick Theological Seminary in Hyde Park and left Fourth Church to serve as the Associate Pastor for Children's Faith Formation at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest.
Recently she left First Presbyterian to focus on family life in Chicago as well as her volunteer efforts, such as serving on the Board of Trustees at McCormick Seminary and co-leading "Common Kids," a family service and education initiative of the Common Pantry foodbank. Amy will be preaching at a variety of local churches over the next few months, but she is most excited to be back at her beloved home church this Sunday afternoon.
Time:
Sunday, July 9
4:00 p.m.
Place:
Sanctuary

It's Time to Register for Confirmation
|
If you have a youth who will be an eighth-grader this fall or who is in high school and wishes to explore a profession of faith and active church membership, we invite you to register them for Confirmation.
Confirmation is Fourth Church's program for eighth-graders to explore the faith of the church they've been raised in. It involves weekly gatherings with a team of committed adults and two weekend retreats. The program builds lasting relationships with peers and adult church leaders as students learn about the church's beliefs, practices, and history in order to consider professing that faith for themselves and taking up an active part in the church.
Weekly gatherings are on Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. The fall and spring retreats are scheduled for September 22-24 and March 9-11, respectively. There will also be an overnight "Homelessness Immersion" experience on Friday, January 19.
If you have any questions about Confirmation, please be in touch with
Rocky Supinger.

Recommendations for the offices of Elder, Deacon, Trustee, and Chicago Lights Board can be made
online
. Paper forms are also available at the church in the pew racks and literature racks.
The Officer Nominating Committee would greatly appreciate your assistance in helping them gather names this summer so they can begin their review of recommendations this fall. So why not take a moment in the coming week to send your suggestions their way!
