Message from Mayor Jack Tatooles
|
Dear Inverness Residents,
We are delighted to invite you to two exciting events happening in our community in May. The first event is our annual Arbor Day Celebration, and the second is an open house to recognize the retirement of Inverness' First Police Chief and welcome our new Police Chief.
The Village of Inverness will celebrate Arbor Day and the Village's 32nd year as a Tree City USA on Monday, May 1, with a tree-planting ceremony at 4:30 pm at Village Hall, 1400 Baldwin Road. The celebration will include refreshments and giveaways. In partnership with the MWRD's Restore the Canopy program, the Village has acquired 50 free tree saplings to be available for free at the Arbor Day event.
In conjunction with the observance, the Inverness Tree Commission conducted a contest for the best original drawing for the cover of the Arbor Day program. Below is the artwork of the selected winners. Click here to view all the artwork submissions.
On Tuesday, May 9, from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, we will host an open house at the Village Hall to recognize the retirement of Police Chief Bob Haas, who has decided to retire as Inverness Police Chief after 14 years of dedicated service. In addition, we will welcome our newest Police Chief, Kyle Ingebrigtsen. We will provide light refreshments and snacks, and we look forward to seeing you there and celebrating these milestones with you.
Best regards,
Jack Tatooles
Mayor

How to prevent Mail Theft
|
|
During the past several months, Inverness residents have reported missing mail, not just incoming mail to their residence but also from outgoing mail. It can happen in various ways, including stealing mail from mailboxes and intercepting packages. Mail theft is illegal and can cause financial losses and identity theft for the victims. The stolen mail often contains sensitive information such as bank statements, credit card information, personal/business checks, or personal identification. If you send checks, try to send checks in envelopes that are not obvious and drop outgoing mail at the post office.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers a free service called Informed Delivery, allowing users to preview images of their incoming mail and track their packages. Users can sign up for Informed Delivery on the USPS website and receive daily email notifications with images of the front side of their letter-sized mail pieces. This service provides a convenient way to stay informed and plan ahead for incoming mail, particularly for those expecting important documents or packages. Informed Delivery can also help prevent mail theft as users can quickly identify any missing or unexpected deliveries. Overall, the Informed Delivery service is a helpful tool that provides USPS customers with greater visibility and control over their incoming mail.
