Waterville UMC Ambassador

Mel Sickelbaugh was awarded the People's Choice Award on May 12th for her Painting of "Sunset."

Mel has been a member of the Toledo Artist Club for 40 years and a member of the Toledo Women's Art League for 25 years.

She started China painting then started taking art classes in oil medium. Due to the turpentine smell bothering her sick husband, she then turned to painting with acrylics. She also paints in watercolor and graphite. She loves to share her artistic gifts with others.

Her painting of "Sunset" will be hanging at the Toledo Artist Club, located at the Toledo Botanical Gardens, throughout June and July.

Thank You: Pastor Teresa and your Church Council would like to thank you for your generosity and willingness to share your financial resources. May God continue to bless each of you and this congregation, as we work together doing His work of sharing the good news with

others.

Contribution Options: Your tithes and offerings may be placed in the Offering Boxes at the back of the Sanctuary, dropped off to the church office or sent them via the US Mail. In addition, this may be the time for you to consider an alternate method for your giving, especially if you make payments through electronic banking. Here are two options currently being used and may be of interest to you.

(Option #1) WUMC Direct Deposit Program: A specified amount is automatically transferred from your checking account to the church’s checking account electronically on the 15th or the last business day of each month or on both if you choose. Details are available on our website www.watervilleumc.org or at the church office.

(Option #2) Bank Electronic Payment: You set up WUMC as a payee on your on-line bank checking or savings account. You enter the amount, follow the procedures and a check will be mailed to the church. See your bank or financial institution for details. NOTE: If you choose this option, please list all designation(s) for your giving on the memo line, such as: General Fund, Capital Fund, Mission, etc.

(Option #3) Vanco online giving program located on our website www.watervilleumc.org. Under the “Give” icon, select “Safe and Secure Online Giving” and follow directions.

Our next Blood Drive is

Missions Committee Focus for June:

AW Food Pantries

Our mission for the month of June is the AWCFM. In our area, there is distribution each Tuesday of the month at alternating locations. At the present time, approximately 200 families (one family would be considered 3-4 people) are receiving assistance from AW Food Pantries weekly. That number is up from an average of 145 families last year.

During the school year the food pantries also provide an option for AW students that receive free and reduced meals at school during the year, by providing Weekend Bag Meals. At the close of the 22-23 school year, approximately 90 students received a weekend packet of 2 breakfast items, 2 lunch items, 2 fruit items, and a couple of salty or sweet snacks to help fill the gap that is not met by school meals or food pantry meals.

For the '23-'24 school year that number of Weekend Food Bags jumped to 130. Both figures provided, are for our own AW district, and although distribution is not limited to the Waterville/Whitehouse area, the vast majority of recipients are from our own district. That is quite an increase in 12 months! We intend to continue the Weekend Food Bags throughout the summer months, with your help.

Both distribution points of AWCFM are operated with a totally volunteer staff and count on donations of area businesses, churches, organizations and individuals to help fill the need in our community.

Non-perishable food items as well as individually packed food items for the weekend food bags are requested this month to assist our own neighbors with food insecurities. Just another way that WUMC fulfills its passion to BE THE CHURCH!

Suggestions for individual servings:

Fruit: Peaches, Pears, Mandarin Oranges, Pineapple, etc.

Cereal: Any type of individually boxed cereal

Other Breakfast Items: Pop Tarts, Granola Bars, Breakfast Bars, Oatmeal packets

Individual Peanut Butter Packages or those with crackers: Plain Preferred, Cheese and crackers, peanut butter crackers

Other Lunch Items: Mac and cheese, Ramen Noodles (Believe it or not kids LOVE Ramen Noodles again!), soups, SpaghettiOs, pasta cups, Ravioli, Cup of Noodles, Mini Salami sticks

Sweet or salty items for snack: Chips, cookies, pretzels, trail mix, Doritos, Chex Mix, Cheez-its, Microwave Popcorn, Fruit Snacks

M&Ms are launching a new project, Martha's Meals, to provide a frozen casserole to anyone in either our congregation or friends in the community who might have a need.

Any church member may take a casserole from the freezer by notifying either Charlotte Pritchett or Delores Young and signing the tally sheet in the kitchen.

Both monetary donations and purchase of specific ingredients for the entree are welcomed. Members will take an ingredient index card and return it with the purchased item.

M&Ms appreciates your participation as we seek to pass on God's love in another tangible way.

Waterville Community VBS

July 22-24 at Zion Lutheran Church

This year, multiple ages will have the opportunity to participate together as a "family tribe." You'll travel back into Bible times - without setting foot outside our community. Each day, your family members can become part of history as they see, hear, touch and even taste what it was like to live in a Bible-times city! These experiences make God's Word come alive with new meaning for all who participate! Registration is available for all family members ages 4 and up (must be potty trained). Student helpers ages 12-17 are encouraged to register as well.
