On Until June 16 - Grounds for Goodness at the Rails End Gallery. Grounds for Goodness is a mobile multi-year project, conceived and led by Toronto-based artist Ruth Howard. Ruth will work with local artists and community members: gathering and playing with stories through drawing, writing, storytelling, sewing, sculpting, music and small object performance, to create and share a distinctive Haliburton version of the project. July 22 – 26 - The Colour of Emotion is an acrylic painting class taught by local artist Grethe Jensen. Paintings bring joy, paintings express emotion. In this workshop you will learn how to choose and mix colours that produce your desired mood – from quiet and peaceful to bold and dramatic. Weekly Events

Tuesdays, June 11 and 18 - The Knitting Village at Minden Hills Cultural Centre. Children between 11 and 14 are welcome to join the Knitting Village for free knitting lessons by an instructor. All knitting supplies and equipment will be provided. The lessons take place at the Cultural Centre between 3:30pm and 4:30pm the first three Tuesdays every month. The lessons are drop-in only. If parents wish to drop their children off, they are required to fill in a contact form.


Thursdays - After-School Crafts. 3-5pm, Minden Library. More info.

Submission Deadline July 8 at noon.

Minden Pride in the Haliburton Highlands in partnership with the Minden Hills Cultural Centre is proud to present the first Voice Pride exhibition at the Agnes Jamieson Art Gallery, Minden, The exhibition will run from August 13th to 31st with a reception scheduled for Tuesday August 20th during our Pride Festival. Curated by Scott Michael Walling @wallingstudios.

Artworks can include painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, printmaking, textiles, sculpture, glass, ceramic, metal, jewellery, wood or digital art (not AI generated art)

Artists must identify as queer but may remain anonymous if they wish.

We encourage the creation of new works of art for submission or to submit work that has been created in the past 4 years. Artworks must be original.

Artists can submit up to 4 original artworks to be considered for exhibition, up to 2 may be selected.

Images should be named: Firstname_Lastname_Title

should not exceed 5mb and be a minimum of 627 pixels x 480pixels, 72dpi

Include: Artist Name/Alias, Artwork Title, Date, Mediums), Dimensions (L), (W), (H), Instagram and/or website, Bio & CV in PDF format.

If you are an Artist, Crafter or Antique enthusiast and want to show case your hard work, the Arts, Crafts and Antique Shows are the perfect place to do that. 

Saturday, June 29, 2024, 900am-3:00pm – Outdoors, Dorset Parkette Hwy 35 across from the Dorset Recreation Centre. Booth spaces available 10x10 and 10x20, exhibitors must provide their own table and chairs.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 10:00am-3:00pm-Indoors, Dorset Recreation Centre, 1051 Main Street Dorset. Booth spaces available 7 ½’ x7 ½’and 7 ½’x 15’ are available to reserve.  Tables and chairs will be provided for this sale.

Exhibitors with similar merchandise will be limited at the discretion of the Algonquin Highlands Parks, Recreation & Trails Department.
