As we warmly welcome June, CVOEO embraces the vibrant spirit of the season – a spirit that embodies celebration and the pursuit of progress.

This month holds special significance. In recognition of Pride Month, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating and honoring their contributions to society and highlighting the ongoing fight for justice. Juneteenth, a day of reflection and celebration, reminds us of our unwavering commitment to social justice and energizes our work to build a more equitable future for all.

Building on this spirit of progress, we're also excited about the positive strides being made within our food access programs at CVOEO. While we'll delve deeper into these exciting developments later this month, we invite you to explore the current breadth of our food access initiatives below.

We look forward to journeying with you through this season of celebration, progress, and community engagement, and we thank you for joining us.

LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Celebration and justice at CVOEO

In honor of Pride Month, a time to recognize the LGBTQ+ community's contributions and fight for equal rights, we at CVOEO want to highlight an important aspect of Fair Housing and invite you to a special event!

The Right to Safe Housing: The Fair Housing Act protects against discrimination based on several factors, including sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation nationwide. In Vermont, gender identity and sexual orientation are explicitly protected, as well as protections based on marital status. This means that LGBTQ+ individuals have the right to secure housing that allows them to live safely, in comfort, and without fear, regardless of their gender identity or who they choose to partner with. For more information and to access our free Tenant Rights' workshops, explore CVOEO's Housing Advocacy Programs.

Join the Celebration: This week, join CVOEO's Voices Against Violence/Laurie's House as we celebrate Pride at the St. Albans Pride Weekend parade on Saturday, June 8. This vibrant parade winds through the streets, showcasing LGBTQ+ pride and inclusion. It culminates at Taylor Park, where the celebration continues. Cheer on the parade and show your support for LGBTQ+ rights in St. Albans and beyond! Learn more about the event below.
