Scenes from our "Let's Celebrate Differences" Assembly at Sally K. Ride Elementary.

Recent Events

This past month our Founder, Kristen led a Let’s Celebrate Differences assembly for 3rd- 5th graders at Dr. Sally K Ride Elementary School in Germantown, Maryland.

This assembly seeks to show that differences are something to celebrate, not ridicule. Using a series of children’s books, music, discussion, and interactive demonstrations, Kristen got kids excited about the things that make them each unique and special.

This was KGH's first assembly in Montgomery County and the first of this school year. We love that our message is spreading further and wider! We are looking to be able to offer more assemblies, more often. If you are interested in bringing an assembly to your school, or, you'd like to be trained to lead these assemblies, please contact us at info@kindnessgrowshere.com.

What Difference do our Kid Kindness Grants make?

When running a non-profit, it's always important to document the impact our programs make. And at times, when talking about kindness, that can be difficult to do. We can tell you how many people have been impacted by our Kid Kindness Grants (33, 233 to be exact!), or how many States our grants have impacted (26 and counting!). But, truly capturing how much this program means to all involved can be difficult.

And then, just this week we had two interactions that made it very clear.

In an application submitted by 11 year old Olivia she said, "I think by doing this it shows people in my school/community that even the most plainest kid can do something big." Yes, Olivia! Yes it does! But, we can say without a doubt (based on your application,) there is NOTHING plain about you!

Later in the week, we reached out to Kristin, a school counselor who supports a few kids every year in submitting a grant. She actively seeks out kids who could use a "win." And because of this counselor's support, their ideas are often funded. We took the time to thank her and in response she said, "Working with your organization is one of the great joys of my job!"

Supporters like you make all of our programs possible! You make it so that kids like Olivia and counselors like Kristin truly know that kindness matters. Thank you for taking the time to read and learn more about what we do, and who we impact. Please consider helping us spread the word:
