Dear St. Anthony Families, 

“It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas” around the building. This week we have celebrated the first week of Advent as a school community with daily reflections and our all school mass on Thursday. The first week of Advent focused on expectation and waiting. We began to prepare our hearts and souls by working on different things each day. Here are this weeks reflections for Saturday and Sunday: 

Saturday- O Lord, as we reach the end of our first week of Christmas preparation, we thank you for letting us know you a little better. After this whole week, we offer you our hearts, which are now cleaner and holier than they were a week ago

Sunday- O God, thank you for this day you have made. Help us to be kinder to one another in our home and friendlier to the people around us. Help us to do right and avoid doing wrong.

We also celebrated the end of our November canned food drive with a CAN-struction building event. Different grade levels were paired up to build 3D sculptures out of cans. The event was a huge success and I am so proud of the generosity our students and families showed. As a school, we donated over 1,400 cans to the St. Anthony and Holy Trinity food pantry. Mrs. Ventresca’s 5th grade class won the class competition, bringing in 285 cans and the 8th grade/PK pair won the CAN-struction competition with their lighted Christmas tree design.

Next week we will take the winter NWEA tests for Math and Reading. Students should get a good night's sleep, eat breakfast, and try their best on each test! Parents, please try to avoid scheduling any extra appointments during testing next week. Thank you in advance for your support. 

Don’t forget to do your homework, go to church on Sunday, and remember who we are, we are St. Anthony Spartans.

Estimadas familias de St. Anthony,

“Está empezando a parecerse mucho a la Navidad” alrededor del edificio. Esta semana hemos celebrado la primera semana de Adviento como comunidad escolar con reflexiones diarias y nuestra misa escolar el jueves. La primera semana de Adviento se centró en la expectativa y la espera. Empezamos a preparar nuestros corazones y almas trabajando en cosas diferentes cada día. Aquí están las reflexiones de esta semana para el sábado y el domingo:

Sábado- Oh Señor, al llegar al final de nuestra primera semana de preparación navideña, te agradecemos por permitirnos conocerte un poco mejor. Después de toda esta semana, les ofrecemos nuestros corazones, que ahora están más limpios y santos que hace una semana.

Domingo- Oh Dios, gracias por este día que has hecho. Ayúdanos a ser más amables unos con otros en nuestro hogar y más amables con las personas que nos rodean. Ayúdanos a hacer el bien y evitar hacer el mal.

También celebramos el final de nuestra colecta de alimentos enlatados de noviembre con un evento de construcción CAN-struction. Diferentes grados fueron puestos en pares para hacer esculturas en 3D con latas. El evento fue un gran éxito y estoy muy orgullosa de la generosidad que mostraron nuestros estudiantes y familias. Como escuela, donamos más de 1400 latas a la despensa de alimentos de St. Anthony y Holy Trinity. La clase de 5° grado de la Sra. Ventresca ganó la competencia de la clase, trayendo 285 latas y la pareja de 8° grado/PK ganó la competencia de construcción CAN con su diseño de árbol de navidad iluminado.



La próxima semana tomaremos las pruebas NWEA de invierno para Matemáticas y Lectura. ¡Los estudiantes deben dormir bien, desayunar y esforzarse al máximo en cada examen! Padres, traten de evitar programar citas adicionales durante las pruebas la próxima semana. Gracias de antemano por su apoyo.

¡Espero que tengas un gran fin de semana y benditas vacaciones de Acción de Gracias! No olvides hacer tu tarea, ir a la iglesia el domingo y recordar quiénes somos, somos St. Anthony Spartans.

• Students will be able to shop at the book fair during their Library classes on Monday and Tuesday. 
• Parents are welcome to shop during the day Monday/Tuesday, Monday from 3-5pm, and Thursday during the home basketball games. 

Thursday December 8th- Boys Home Basketball Games @ St. Anthony 5:30, 6:30. 7:30

Friday December 9th- 8th Grade presents, Our Lady of Guadalupe Play, 2pm in the Church. Parents are welcome to attend.

Cold Weather Is Here!

Please dress students accordingly with coats, hats, and gloves. We will have outdoor recess if the temperature/wind chill is 32 degrees or above. We will also start having more indoor dismissals for snow or extreme temperatures.

Por favor vista a los estudiantes apropiadamente con abrigos, gorro y guantes. Tendremos recreo al aire libre si la temperatura/sensación térmica es de 32 grados o más. También comenzaremos a tener más salidas dentro de la escuela con la nieve o temperaturas extremas.
