Provincial Budget status quo for culture for 2024- 2025 |
The provincial budget, announced by the Government of Saskatchewan on March 20, 2024, called Classrooms, Care and Communities, had a lot of good news for schools, healthcare and community support, but not much for arts, heritage and culture.
Other than a significant increase to the Community Initiatives Fund with $8.47 million for 2024-2025, from $6.36 million the previous year, the budget numbers for the upcoming year remain much the same.
The Royal Saskatchewan Museum received a small decrease receiving $3.058 million for 2024-25, down from $3,939 million the previous year. All other major arts and cultural agencies remained status quo.

What does inclusiveness mean to your organization? | |
Inclusion is a state of being valued, respected and supported. Inclusive organizations are learning-centred; they value the perspectives and contributions of all people, and they incorporate the needs, assets and perspectives of diverse communities into the design and implementation of universal and inclusive programs and services.
With the International Day for the Elimination of Racism and Racial Discrimination coming up on March 21, take some time this week to assess what your organization is doing to improve levels of cultural competency, diversity and inclusiveness. Here are some resources to get you started on this process, and to join events and learning opportunities for the International Day for the Elimination of Racism and Racial Discrimination:
