As a reminder, we have two fellowship opportunities on our calendar this evening:

  • TwentiesThirties will come together for their monthly SpeakEasy social on Thursday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m., this month at MingHin (333 E. Benton Place, Suite 300). Those in their twenties and thirties who are interested in a small group Bible study beginning in February are also invited to contact Joe Morrow for more information.

  • Also this Thursday, Women at Fourth will host their monthly gathering at 5:30 p.m. in the Manse. All women are invited to come join in celebrating the season with hot chocolate, stories, and good cheer!

In the days ahead we have additional occasions for fellowship on the calendar as well.

  • This coming Sunday, January 26 is the day for the monthly LGBTQIA Brunch, a time for our LGBTQIA community and friends to share in a time of fellowship over a meal. Those who would like to join us for brunch are asked to meet at the church reception desk on Sunday at 12:15 p.m., and we will walk from there to a nearby restaurant.

  • Cornerstones, a group of those fifty and over, will be honoring Black History Month with a special presentation on Friday, February 7 on “Retracing Freedom’s March on the Fall Mission Trip.” That evening Robert Crouch will talk about the 2019 Civil Rights Movement Trip, sponsored by our Racial Equity Council, which was a deep immersion into both the tragic dimensions of systemic racism in our country and the inspiring hope, faith, commitment, and resilience of those who have resisted it. Registration for this dinner-program evening, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Borwell Dining Room, is required by Tuesday, February 4.
This Friday evening we invite you to stop by Buchanan Chapel between 6:00 and 7:30 pm to take part in the spiritual practice of walking the labyrinth and engaging in the prayer and reflection that nurtures.

Labyrinth hosts will be on hand to offer guidance for those who have not walked a labyrinth previously.

Strengthening Communication through the Enneagram” is the topic of an upcoming February 8 workshop hosted by the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being.

Come discover how the Enneagram can help us understand how we naturally express ourselves as well as how we can distort what others say to us. We will also explore why talking to one person is simpler than talking to another.

Through the lens of the Enneagram, we will take an honest look at how we communicate with those in our lives, an understanding that will have long-lasting benefits for our relationships with coworkers, family, friends, and, most importantly, ourselves.

Do you have gifts for compassionate listening? Do you feel called to be present with and pray for individuals experiencing challenging times?

If so, we encourage you to consider becoming a Stephen Minister.

Our next fifty-hour Stephen Ministry training class will begin in March and will be offered on Saturdays.

Applications for the training are due Friday, February 21.

If you or a friend have an interest in criminal justice reform or, more specifically, worshiping and talking with detainees in the Cook County Jail, please let us know. A small group from Fourth Church visits men in the jail on the third Tuesday of each month from 5:45 till 7:15 pm.

To be part of our Jail Ministry during this calendar year, you must first attend a one-hour training by the Cook County Sheriff's Office the first week of February.

If you are interested or have questions, please send your name and contact information to jailministry@fourthchurch.org by Friday, January 31.
Our Employment Network mission group continues to work in partnership with the St. Sabina Employment Resource Center to increase job opportunities for those in the Auburn-Gresham and Englewood neighborhoods.

If you become aware of any  entry-level job openings where you work or live, please send the details to employmentnetwork@fourthchurch.org so we might share them with those in the St. Sabina neighborhood who are searching for employment.
If you haven’t yet reserved your tickets for the fun and festive 2020 Gala of Hope, the annual benefit in support of Chicago Lights—the community outreach arm of Fourth Church—and the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being, why not do so today.

Reserve your tickets online—or get them at Coffee Hour this Sunday—and plan to join us on Friday, March 6 for an evening of fun that makes a difference in the lives of so many!

Might you be able to help us with grocery shopping once a month?

Our Meals Ministry program is in need of grocery shoppers to purchase supplies for the program. (Shoppers need both email access and a car.)

This is just one of the volunteer opportunities you will find listed on VOMO ( www.bit.ly/fpcvolunteers), our new volunteer management software, which makes it easy to sign up for and manage your volunteer engagement with the church.

For assistance with VOMO or information about volunteering with Fourth Church, please contact Robert Crouch, Director of Volunteer Ministry.
