Dear Friends in Christ,
For Christmas Eve 2020, the church was locked up tight. Last year, as omicron swept over the country, I tested positive on Christmas Eve morning. I recorded a sermon which was shown on a large television screen in the nave that night. We then canceled the children's pageant, and many people watched me preach on a t.v. from their own television. This year the wind chills are predicted to be -20. We hope people will come live, but we also want you to use good judgement. We will livestream both the 4pm and the 9pm Christmas Eve services, as well as the 10am Christmas Day service.
We pray for all those who have no home in the midst of these polar forces, and those who minister to their needs. We also keep in mind those who can not hunker down for the next 48 hours, those who must leave the house to take care of others, and those on whose labor we depend.
Whether we see you or not, may you have a blessed Christmas.

While you were making Christmas cookies, Tom Scrivner was happily immersed in the archives of Christ Church. And now he is excited to share the church history with you. Did you know the church was built with money raised by the diocesan youth group? Did you know the stone columns in the nave actually surround the original red marble pillars, which were covered over in stone when the design vision changed? Did you know the church was built in four stages over 15 years, and that we had a usable basement with nothing built above it for a number of years? Come learn more and celebrate the fact that Christ Church always was, is and will be a place built on the surest foundation.

With our help 144 Thanksgiving food baskets were given to families in the Harambee neighborhood which ended up feeding 569 people! Similar numbers are expected for the Christmas bags!

Lectio Divina: listening to a short passage, often from a psalm, and then, without comment, sharing the words or phrase that spoke to you.
Centering Prayer: a gentle, silent prayer in which individuals often use their own 'sacred word' to which they return when their thoughts wander - as thoughts always do. Beginners most welcome!

Christ Church Health and Safety Protocols for In-Person Worship
Jesus asks to love our neighbors as ourselves. In this spirit, we ask you to observe these protocols:
• Masks are welcome and optional
• For now, protocols for programs containing kids 4K and younger will follow the lead of WFB Schools.
• We will continue to ventilate the space with fresh air.
•We strongly encourage vaccination for all those who are eligible and we encourage the unvaccinated to wear a mask for their own protection.
• As always, our virus response will be subject to change based on new variants and other factors.
