Healthcare Chaplain Survey

Calling all healthcare chaplains! If you are a student, retired, or a current chaplain working in a healthcare setting, please consider participating in an anonymous survey examining workplace violence against healthcare chaplains. The study is being conducted by former chaplain and current doctoral student Dana Fachner, M.Div., at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This study examines healthcare chaplains’ perceptions and experiences with workplace violence, expanding ongoing research into violence against healthcare workers to look at the unique experiences of chaplains. The research team plans to use the results of the study to inform current discussions of how to best reduce violence against healthcare workers.

The deadline for responses is 6/30/24.

How Has COVID-19 Shaped Your Faith? Participate in this Study

Healthcare Chaplain Colleagues,

Did you work as a healthcare chaplain during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic? Did this experience impact your personal faith/spirituality or how you do your work? If so, please consider contributing to the first of its kind survey designed to explore the effects COVID-19 had and has on our work and spirituality.

This research project aims at gaining insight into how healthcare chaplain’s religion/faith/spirituality has been affected during and post the COVID-19 pandemic and to what extent. Secondary this research tries to elicit how religion/faith/spirituality changes influence healthcare chaplains’ work currently.

In Case You Missed It

Imperfect but Impactful

I’ve been to the mountaintop, and I’m so grateful! When I arrived at my office at Princeton Baptist Medical Center almost 13 years ago, I stood at the window and vocalized my thank you to as many people as I could think of and acknowledged the Spirits of those whose names I don’t know, who's shoulders I stood on and stand on. I am aware that their sacrifices and courage...Read More

Strategic Plan Update

ACPE has completed a strategy development and planning process designed to clarify the Association’s role in its field and to identify how it may have the greatest possible impact. The Association launched the planning process in 2022 and hired La Piana Consulting to guide the effort. The Board approved the strategy in early 2023 and engaged in implementation planning for the remainder of 2023. On May 23, 2024, at the conclusion of the Annual Conference, the ACPE Board of Directors shared the strategic planning document with the membership. This working document is now housed in SharePoint for members to review.
