Toddler-Approved Art Exhibit:

Their Reaction Says It All

It was all dancing feet as a group of toddlers squealed and cheered during a pre-opening testing visit as they looked at “Invisible River” by Rachel Sydlowski. The screen-printed panels reproduce a river environment with black light, revealing hidden wildlife.

The children reacted with glee as they viewed the butterflies hovering above the flowers and fish swimming through. The visual artist and educator is one of nine artists participating in Bronx Children's Museum’s Arts Builds Community (ABC) Collection, curated by the Museum’s Deputy Director of Arts and Exhibits Natalie Collette Wood.

A Heartfelt Farewell

In August, Bronx Children’s Museum Board President Arlene Lewis Bascom shared the news that our passionate leader Carla Precht would be stepping down from her role as Executive Director of the Museum. Among the many goals Carla set out to accomplish, opening up a physical space for families to safely play, learn and connect to the Bronx was at the top of that list.

Now that the Bronx Children’s Museum has become an institution “with and without walls,” it’s time to celebrate Carla’s 12-year tenure at the Museum and bid her a heartfelt farewell at the close of December. We wish her all the best in her future projects and hope she will remain involved with the Museum. BxCM’s Board of Directors have been actively conducting a search for a new Executive Director, who they hope to announce shortly.

Congrats, Adam and Mona!

Bronx Children's Museum is excited to welcome Adam Algarin into a new role as Program Coordinator. In March of 2018, Adam joined the Museum as a Guide and assisted with BxCM’s in-school and festival programming. He has been a resident of the Bronx for nearly three decades and is extremely excited to have the children of the Bronx explore the Museum’s vibrant new space. Adam holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from City University of New York.

BxCM is also excited to welcome Mona Dreher into a new role as Program Coordinator. Raised in Lexington, South Carolina, Mona has lived in the Bronx since 2005. While supporting neighborhood initiatives, she connected with Bronx Children's Museum at ArtSpot in 2014 and has been a part of the Museum ever since.
