Effective January 1, 2025

SF HCSO Rates go up over 9%!

We are disappointed to report that a 9.4% - 9.6% rate increase will be happening effective January 1, 2025 for the San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO). We had been in discussions with city officials to see if this very substantial rate increase could be paused for 2025, but unfortunately this did not happen. The rate increase percentages are calculated by the rate increase language in the ordinance that is tied to a multiple county health care rate for public employees. See the table by clicking "For More Information".

We look forward to working in 2025 with the new city government to see if there is a way to reform this ordinance in a way to reduce the financial burden on our still struggling restaurants and small businesses, and also to see if there is a way to free up for use the over $900 million of funds, not claimed by employees, that are sitting in a city fund.
