Dear Normandale Families,

Part of the Edina Schools mission is to prepare “…all students to realize their full potential.” This mission started during Connect and Assess days when Normandale staff administered screening tests in reading and/or math. We will be sending the results of these assessments home mid-November via backpacks in a report called the FAST Family Report. These same screening tests will be administered two more times this school year to gauge student progress and make instructional plans for the remainder of the school year. 

In the meantime, classroom teachers and Normandale’s reading and math specialists have been meeting to plan for instruction based on this initial screening information and other classroom-level data points. These semi-annual data-day meetings help teachers plan for instruction and as we work to make the Edina Schools Mission possible. Our teachers are looking forward to meeting with families at conferences on November 8 to share what they are doing to meet your students social and academic needs. 

INTERN THANKSGIVING EVENT

The Edina French Interns will be preparing a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, November 5th.

URGENT: We need volunteers to help with this event or we won't be able to run it for the interns! 

Please sign up to donate food or to volunteer your time.

Food donations should be dropped off by Friday, November 4th at the Jennen home (6720 Valley View Road, Edina, MN 55439).

FALL CONFERENCES

Fall Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, November 8 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Teachers also have additional times scheduled outside of school hours for families who are unable to attend conferences on November 8. Music, Art, Phy Ed and Media teachers will be open for drop-ins from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on November 8^th.

LA BELLE SOIRÉE

NORMANDALE VOLUNTEERS

We have several critical roles to fill this year:

• We need additional co-chairs for La Kermesse (carnival) on May 13.
• We need additional co-chairs for Field Day on June 1.

ALEXIA BOBLET - FIRST GRADE

ABOUT ME:  I live near the Atlantic Ocean, in a small town called Labenne. This is why one of my favorite things to do is to go eat a picnic on the beach watching the sunset with my friends or my family. I live with my mom, my dad, my 19 year-old brother and my cat in a house under the pines tree which are the emblematic trees in les Landes, the place where I come from. When I have free time, I love to read or watch movies and series but also to hang out with my friends.

IN THE US: I love to travel and discover new things so I would love to travel during my time in the US. Of course, I would love to discover Minnesota and learn about the culture there. If I have the chance to, I would love to go to Chicago, New-York, New-Orleans and so much more ! I also would like to see and visit National Parks. Obviously, I can't wait to discover the way of living in the US.

MY FAVORITE FOOD:  I think that I am a food lover, I love a lot of things so making a choice is really hard ! I love Italian and Asian food but also typical dishes from southwest of France : foie gras, duck confit, axoa (this is a Basque speciality) ... As I am French, I love cheese, bread, croissant and chocolatine (This is so cliche).

I AM EXCITED ABOUT: First, I can't wait to meet my host family and discover the school. I am so exciting to discover a new way of living and a new education system. I am so entousiastic about meeting new people and learn from them, discover Minnesota

2022 EDINA SCHOOL BOARD SPECIAL ELECTION

Voters in the Edina School District will have a special election on their ballot Tuesday, Nov. 8 to fill a vacant Edina School Board seat. EDINA EARLY LEARNING CENTER

Did you know? Edina Public School’s Early Learning Center offers Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes for families with children ages birth through five years. We invite you to come meet other parents/caregivers, explore new experiences with your child, engage in discussions about parenting and child development, and feel supported by our licensed Parent Educators. The Alliance Française is the non-profit French cultural center serving the Twin Cities and is a proud partner of French immersion schools and their families.
