The grand opening of Digital Futures, UC's first interdisciplinary research building, is quickly approaching in the fall of 2022.
And while the hard infrastructure investments are impressive, the Office of Research is equally excited about the people who have moved into new roles that are dedicated to making President Neville Pinto’s vision of Digital Futures a reality. A new team is now working towards Digital Futures’ grand opening next fall, working out details related to the space itself and creating the support systems and services that DF researchers need to reach their potential.

OoR training related to NIH proposal changes offered Nov. 30
The JCORE report focuses on ensuring that researchers and universities are adequately protecting research, foreign and domestic, performed on behalf of the United States government and that findings are not being inappropriately shared to the benefit of a foreign government.
The new format pages will be required for Just-In-Time proposals and Research Performance Progress Reports for due dates on or after January 25, 2022. In addition, changes related to electronic signatures and the collection of supporting documentation, where applicable, will also take effect January 25, 2022, for Other Support.
Researchers are invited to attend the OoR Research Development and Support series, “NIH Update: Biosketch and Other Support Changes,” at 10 a.m. Nov. 30. Follow this link to join the meeting on Zoom.

Roughly one month left to apply for these internal research awards
Have you had a community-engaged research project on your mind? If so, you might be interested in applying for a Community Change Collaborative grant—$20,000 each.
Or maybe you’re a graduate student, who could really use $7,500 to advance a research idea in collaboration with one of your professors. For that, there are graduate stipends.
The Office of Research divvies out roughly $1 million in internal funds each year and a few of these awards have deadlines at the end of November or in early December.
This also includes the URC Faculty Scholars Research Awards Program for UC early career faculty who are proposing transformative ideas that will shape our future. These awards are for $25,000 and for a period of 24 months.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take your research to the next level. Learn more about all of the awards, by visiting the OoR Funding webpage.
